Tu B’Shevat

Tu B’Shevat or the "New Year of the Trees" is Jewish Arbor Day. Scholars believe that Tu

B’Shevat was originally an agricultural festival, marking

the emergence of spring. Today, Tu B’Shevat has also

become a tree planting festival in Israel, in which

both Israelis and Jews around the world plant trees in honor or in memory of a

loved one or friend.

PurimPurim is the most festive of Jewish holidays, a time of prizes,

noisemakers, costumes and treats. The Festival of Purim commemorates a major victory over oppression and is recounted

in the Megillah, the scroll of the story of Esther.

SukkotSukkot, a Hebrew word

meaning "booths" or "huts", refers to the

Jewish festival of giving thanks for the fall

harvest, as well as the commemoration of the

forty years of Jewish wandering in the desert

after Sinai.
