The passive voice in English is the general structure:

Present Simple

Active voice: Ben writes the letter

Passive voice: The letter is written by Ben

Present Continuous

Active voice: Ben is writting the letter

Passive voice: The letter is being written by Ben

Simple Past

Active voice: Ben wrote the letter

Passive Voice: The letter was written by Ben

Past Continuous

Active voice: Ben was writting the letter

Passive voice: The letter was being written by Ben

Perfect Present

Active voice: Ben has written the letter

Passive voice: The letter has been written by Ben

Perfect Past

Active voice: Ben had written the letter

Passive voice: The letter had been written by Ben

Future (will)

Active voice: Ben will write the letter.

Passive voice: The letter will be written by Ben

Future (going to)

Active voice: Ben is going to write the letter.

Passive voice: The letter is going to be written by Ben.

EXAMPLES OF ACTIVE VOICE TO PASSIVE VOICE:

“They have arrested the suspect: The suspect has been arrested”

“Someone stole my bike last night: My bike was stolen last night”

“We’ll take a decision this week: A decision will be taken this week”

“They deliver the newspapper every morning: The newspapper is delivered

every morning”

“They were making the film when the director died:

The film was being made when the director died”
