From the Pastor’s Desk
It is hard to believe that since we welcomed 2019 we are
already observing Memorial Day. And with the
observance of Memorial Day and the unofficial start of
summer, we are moving closer to the hot and hazy days.
Most children are already out of school for the summer
and are getting ready to execute their plans for summer. I
know that some of our young people are planning to
attend camp this year, and for those of you who are going
to Tar Hollow, I hope to see you there. For those of you
who are going on family vacation, this summer, have fun
and be safe.
This year, Vacation Bible School will be held from June
10-13 at Sharon with the theme, “Who is My Neighbor?”
Please help to spread the word so that as many children
as possible can come and participate. Helpers will be
needed to assist in different areas. If you hear God’s call
to assist, please speak to Sister Linda Wardell or Pastor
Lloyd.
June 9 is Pentecost Sunday and following the tradition of
the early church, we at Sharon will be adding three
persons to our membership. Please keep Sisters Morgan
Frey and Jessica Swaldo and Brother Nicholas Swaldo in
your prayers as they reaffirm their faith and begin this
new phase of their spiritual journey. Please endeavor to
attend worship on June 9th to offer them your support.
I also invite you to pray for the young people in
confirmation class as they continue preparation to
confirm their faith in Christ: Bryley, Maxwell, Grady,
Adrian, and Adam.
I continue to remind you of our community picnic
scheduled for Saturday June 22nd from 3 – 7 PM. This
will be an outdoor event on our church grounds and an
open invitation is extended to the community. There will
be fun and games for kids and grown-ups, and there will
be food for everyone. I hope you are coming and are
planning to bring someone with you.
As we look forward to summer and the new things that
God may be calling us to do, we should keep in mind that
some of our members are still dealing with serious health
challenges and continue to depend on their church family
for prayer. Let us also remember those who are home
bound and send them a card or visit with them.
As we continue our Christian journey, let us remember
and be encouraged by the Congregational Watchword
God gave us for 2019: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed
you; I have called you by name, you are mine” Isaiah
43:1.
May the peace of Christ be with us all.

Mandala Dot Painting
Anna Mae Loveday will lead a session where you will make a beautiful notepad cover using dots
and paint to create a personal showpiece. This will be held June 8th at 10am in the fellowship hall.
Cost is $10 and will include all supplies and snacks plus drinks. This will be a
fun morning with friends old and new. Register with Sandy Fait by June 3rd
and be sure to look at the display of Anna Mae’s creation next to the kitchen.
Layettes for Mission Fields
The Mid States Moravian Women have chosen layettes as the
year’s project. A list of needed items will be on the bulletin boards
soon. The Monday Quilters will be sewing diapers, burp cloths and
receiving blankets. If you can help construct these, join us when we meet the
3rd Monday of each month from 9 to whenever we are too tired to continue.
This is not always sewing but doing the many other steps involved. We always
share a covered dish lunch at 12. If you are not comfortable doing this,
monetary donations would be appreciated for materials.
Give this to donation to treasurer Sandy Fait.
The Midstate Women’s Retreat will be held
here at Sharon October 11 and 12.
Rev. John Rights will be the speaker
to introduce his study book for the
new year. The main meals will be
catered but we will need help with
drinks, snacks, registration, and
serving/cleanup, and various other
tasks. Please consider attending
this spiritual week with a chance to
meet fellow Moravians and hear
about exciting things happening in
the Midstates area.
Booth Mission Lunch
A fundraiser will be held July 21st after
church to raise funds for the next trip to
Ahaus Clinic. Hopefully the Booths will be
here to fill you in with significant events on
this year’s trip (a missing interpreter due to
a snow storm is one) and what they hope to
do on the next trip in February. Each year
for 13 years they have used vacation time to
aid the patients at the clinic with dental
services and delivery of supplies. Our
mission board has learned that if we want
supplies to reach the intended
location, the best way to insure
this is human visitors doing the
delivery. Thank you for all of the
past support for this mission.
