Report on
Faculty Development Programme in “Cyber Security”
(5th March – 10th March 2019)
The domain of the FDP is very relevant today and will be in future too. The basics of digital
security are worth learning for everyone who uses the benefits of modern civilization. With this
purpose, Department of Computer Engineering, VIIT hosted the programme which was
jointly organized by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. This FDP scheduled 5th March to 10th
March 2019, was a part of a mission of “National Resource Centre in Cyber Security and Data
Sciences” to provide training to faculties in the area of Cyber Security.
The National Resource Centre is established under the guidance of Rashtriya Uchachatar
Shiksha Abhiyan shortly RUSA. RUSA is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, launched in 2013,
receives grants from MHRD, Government of India, under ‘Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya
National Mission on Teachers and Teaching Scheme.
The workshop was inaugurated on 5th March 2019 at 10.00 am by Col. Sangram Shinde
(Indian Army) and Mrs. Pradnya Pophalikar (IQSPL). Mrs. Pradnya Pophalikar is working
as an Information and cyber security consultant, having more than 10 years of professional
experience in Information Technology, expertise in Penetration Testing.
Day 1:
The first session started around 11:00 AM. Mrs. Pradnya Pophalikar (IQSPL) discussed the
following points on Introduction to Cyber Security, Basic of Networking, Basic of Linux,
Introduction to Kali Linux and Password Cracking. Hands on session on Kali linux and
Metasploit were conducted.
Day 2:-
The sessions were conducted by Mrs. Seema Dixit (IQSPL). She is Lead Security Trainer and
Senior Security Analyst. She focused on Introduction to Ethical hacking, Information Gathering,
Scanning. Hands on session on whois, nmap, burpsuite and some online websites were used.
Day 3:-
The sessions were conducted by Mrs.Pradnya Pophalikar (IQSPL) on Vulnerability
Assessment, Exploitation, Post-Exploitation, Client Side Attacks and Clearing Tracks. Hands on
session on metasploit and Nessus were also conducted.
Day 4:-
The sessions were conducted by Mrs. Pradnya Pophalikar (IQSPL) on Web Apps Basics, Web
Applications Assessment, SQL Injection and Cross-Site Scripting. All these attacks were
performed by writing scripts and using test websites.
Day 5:-
The sessions were conducted by Mr. Aniket Badami. He is working as Penetration Tester at
IQSPL. The session largely focused on File Upload Exploit, Parameter Tampering, Rate
Limiting, Session Fixation and some Miscellaneous attacks. Burpsuit, Nmap and some scripts
were written for learning these attacks.
Day 6:-
The sessions were conducted by Mr. Nikhil Gokhale (IQSPL). He is working as forensic
investigator at IQSPL. The focus of session was on Browser Security, Malware security, Cyber
laws of India and Data security. Trucrypt and some scripts were used to understand these
concepts.
At the end a test on Kahoot was conducted by Mr. Amol Bagal (IQSPL) all participants were
enthusiastic and enjoyed this session.It was a good learning experience for all participants. The
event ended with distribution of certificates.
