Video Lighting

Facts

Do You Understand Light Well?

Whether you are photographer or cinematographer, you need to have good understanding of light and it principles. This knowledge determines how good or bad you are at your job

Get Softer Light By Using A Broader Light Source

A broader source creates softer light. Since the device emits more rays of light, it spreads illumination across the face. Rays hit a subject from different directions. Thus they also act as a fill light and make shadow fainter.

Closer The Source, The Softer Is The

Light

You can also get softer light by setting up the lighting tool close to the subject. Since device is near the subject, the source of illumination is broader by virtue of its position (it seems larger). The broader is the source, the softer is the illumination.

Front On Light

should Be Avoided

In video lighting set up, you should avoid the front on light. If a lighting device is set up just in front of the subject, it wipes out shadows of different features of the model. Shadow is necessary to add a dimension to the face of a person

One should use lighting tools wisely so that perfect balance between light and shadow is attained.
