PROTECTION LED COMES ON WHEN THE AMPLIFIER IS POWERED UP.Check for shorts on speaker leads.Check that vo lume control on the head unit is turned down low.Remove speaker leads ,and reset the a mplifi er. If the Protection LED still comes o n ,then the ampl ifier is faulty.The amplifier will shut down automatically when the units temperature goes up to 80 CThis wil l protect the units f rom da mage.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Before removing your amplifier ,refer to the list be low and follow thesuggested procedures. Always test the speakers an d their wires first.

Check for good grou nd connection.Check that remote DC terminal has at least 7V DC.Check that there is battery power on the + term inal.Check all FUSES.Check that Protection LED is not lit. If it is lit, shut of f amplifier briefly and thenre power it.

Disconnect all RCA inputs to the amplif ier , if hiss/ noise disappears , thenplug in the component driving the amplifier and unplug its inpu ts . If hiss/no ise disappe ars, g o on until the faulty /noisy component is fou nd.It is bes t to set the amplif ier inp ut leve l as insensit ive as possib le. Th e bestsubjective S/N ratio is obta inable this way . Try to drive as high a signal leve lfrom the head unit as possible.

AMPLIFIER WILL NOT POWER UP.

HIGH HISS OR ENGINE NOISE(ALTERNATOR WHINE) IN SPEAKERS.

Check that th e minimum speake r impedance for that model is correct.Check for speaker shorts .Check that th ere is good airflow around the ampli fier . In some applications,an external cooling fan may be required.

Check that th e Level cont rol`s is set to match the signal level of the head u nit.Check that al l crossover f requencies have b een properly set .Check for shorts on the speaker leads.

This is always caused by a poor ly gro unded RCA patch cord.

AMPLIFIER S GETS VERY HOT.

DISTORTED SOUND.

HIGH SQUEAL NOISE FROM SPEAKERS.
