slow start! (IIP has not officially opened its season yet!)

Satellite Imagery for Iceberg Detection & Identification

• C-CORE has developed Iceberg Detection Algorithm as part of Northern View Service Element of GMES

• Funded by ESA

• C-CORE used both RADARSAT & ENVISAT images

• IIP End User - Iceberg Detection Reports delivered for each image using MANICE system

Iceberg Drift Model Validation Deployed Compact Air Launched Ice Beacon (CALIB) onto

an ice island in May 2003

Tracked for 13 days; results show that berg drift was within error circles produced by Berg Analysis & Prediction System (BAPS)

Deploying more CALIBs in 2004!

Working with Canadian Ice Service to validate new BAPS. (and synchronizing databases).
