As we are entering the warmer months, our state fruit—the peach—is starting to come into
season. Below is a recipe to make with your children. This is a great time to speak with your
child about different things that come from Georgia.
Fruit Salad Ice Pops 1 peach, cut into 1/2 inch slices (1/2 cup) 3 oz. blueberries (1/2 cup) 2 kiwis, peeled & sliced into 1/4 –inch rounds 1.5 to 2 cups of 100% white-grape juice 4 oz. strawberries, hulled & halved (3/4 cup) Arrange some of each fruit in eight 3-oz. ice-pop molds (make sure the pieces fit snugly). Pour enough juice into each mold to cover the fruit. Insert ice-pop sticks and freeze until solid (about 6 hours) for up to 2 weeks. Makes 8 pops.

We all know how important it is children to read. As hard as it can be to
believe, reading starts at a very early age. Below are a few tips to help
you encourage reading with your child.
Make reading fun—a time that you both look forward to spending together.
Set a good example as a reader—read every day at home even if it is a magazine or newspaper.
Infants/Toddlers
Snuggle with your child and his or her favorite blanket or toys as you read.
Read with expression using different voices for different characters.
Young Children (Kindergarten-3rd grade)
Keep reading to your child even when he can read. Choose books that are too difficult or long for him to read alone.
Take turns reading a story with your child. Don’t interrupt to correct mistakes that do not change the meaning.
Older Children (4th-6th grade)
Take turns reading a book with your child. Ask your child to compare a book to another familiar book. How are
the characters alike or different? Do the stories take place in similar settings? How are the illustrations the same or different?
Ask what part of the story or book your child liked the best and why.

On 13 April 2019, we held our annual Egg Hunt at the Robins Youth
Center. We had many different families join us for fun, games,
food, and a huge Egg Hunt. Fun was had by all! We hope to have
just as much participation and more in the future.
