INTRODUCTION
Internet access and huge amounts of information spread worldwide, has become a two-
edged sword for educational purposes. On one hand, it has created new opportunities and
international outreach, but on the other, it had transformed the way students use this
information with mischief consequences in relationship with intellectual property and
copyright aspects. In particular by current harmful practices such as plagiarism, copy and
paraphrasing.
Every day, there is an even more need to inform, educate and prevent students to avoid
and prevent such situations mentioned above. Therefore, main purpose of this guide is to
provide basic tools, notions and principal approaches for youngster learners regarding
intellectual property and copyrights. It also has a relevant analysis regarding on self-
regulation, oral expression and communicative skills, and collaborative work matters.
This is the third and final guide of the course Communicative Skills and Autonomous
Learning, through last eight weeks on my own learning experience I found this course very
useful and helpful in order to understand main issues of virtual studies. The tutor was very
supportive and provide us all the skills needed to build academic habits, self-regulation
learning process, as well as good practices to succeed with excellent results on virtual
studies education.

ACTIVITY # 1 ETHICAL IMPLICATIONS OF ACADEMIC PLAGIARISM.
Activity # 1.1 Annotated bibliography:
Council of Writing Program Administrators, (2014), Defining and Avoiding Plagiarism: The
WPA Statement on Best Practices, Article taken from: http://wpacouncil.org/positions/WPAplagiarism.pdf
This article defines main principles of plagiarism, detail information and concepts description. Is very specific and provides other questions that makes easier to
understand further topics regarding plagiarism. One of the key points of this article is the clear definition of certain cases in which is plagiarism is done. Also offer, different alternatives and foster the creation of politics to set goals, assessments
and efficient control such as suggested disciplinary actions.
Bloom, S. (2011). My Word!: Plagiarism and College Culture. Cornell University Press. (P. 2-47.) Taken from: https://books.google.com.co/books?hl=es&lr=&id=J3uv5MQsdIkC&oi=fnd&pg=PA1&dq=p

On this book, the author makes a wide broad review of modern kinds of plagiarism, focused on students of college and university. It explains in detail different situations
and examples of it. Provides tools and useful information to succeed without compromising values and doing very high quality works in accordance with copyright
current legislation. It is specially written for students of first year with a very fresh language and easy reading.

This Article, despite of the year when written, provides technical tools and discuss in detail methods of detection of plagiarism. It goes through a legal review of possible
penalties for incurring in this kind of practices. Intentional o unintentional, the author explains how can it be detected and suggest the use of one tool called the “Glatt Plagiarism Teaching Program”. It is very useful understanding copyright legislation,
and tools such as plagiarism.org, IntegriGuard, EVE2, and CopyCatch.

Activity # 1.3 Ethical implications of academic plagiarism.
In an academic perspective, main issues of committing plagiarism are very ruthless in
terms of honesty and transparency. Sometimes students are not aware and conscious
about this kind of bad practices by neglect, mental laziness or deliberated and personal
means. In any case it has serious implications and disciplinary measures. Moreover,
economic penalties on private or public environments. Thus, it is mandatory to take in count
plagiarism practices as a very important issue, and learn how not to do so along academic
process.

MUNDO INTERCONECTADO.

On the other hand, it has become a very common practice by just copy-paste info from
internet sources. It difficult learning process, as students are reading less and just doing
academic work to accomplish a requisite, but not with real learning purposes. Therefore,
DNA education process must start to create this mentality of honesty and transparency
from the first years of learners.
Finally, it is important to mention that is not only a law infringement, it also is consider to
be detrimental to the work of original author, his work, time, and intellectual property. Every
day there are different and new ways to plagiarizing, however it is a commitment and
responsibility of every student to hard work to promote strategies and good academic
practices in order to prevent plagiarism.
ACTIVITY # 2 THE PROCESS SPEAKING IN FRONT OF A COMPETENT
PROFESSIONAL.
Activity # 2.1 Diagnostic and personal reflection.
Figure 2. Diagnostic.
Through my personal and professional career I had been to make several lecturers and
presentations, to different kind of public. This years had given me the experience to perform
and enhance my speaking skills, I also took a short course of Speaking in Public, as well
as other life tips in order to keep improving my oral speeches.
However, according to the diagnostic I have to work on the preparation and previous
conscription of my lecturers and speeches, focusing on my diction, vocalization and
corporal movements. My plan is to keep working in to oral expression and my body

expression as well. There is not much needed to do so, but always there is something I
could do to improve and sharpen my techniques.
I listed a few things I could do better and which I am working on:
-Overcome fear on to new public or people I don’t know.
-Introduce myself before I speak to others.
-Slowdown the speed of my speaking.
-Use more formal language and less informal expressions.
-Try to look to the whole audience and not just stare at one point or person.
-Use a higher tone of voice, and pronounce every letter of each word.

Activity # 2.3 Presentation of Debate Technique
Our group has chosen Debate Technique. To do so, we have prepared a Kahoot game
as developed below to discuss with the class about the topic of our essay.
Rules:
1. Each student must have a smartphone and internet access.
2. Through the app, each student answer the questions of the game.
3. After each question, the group of students whom correctly answer the question,
has the opportunity to give his opinion and debate his ideas with the moderator.
Step by Step:
1. The debate begins whit the presentation of the activity by the moderator.
2. The moderator explain the rules and introduce team members.
3. The moderator presents the problem and the thesis of the essay.
4. The game begins with the proposed questions by using kahoot app.
5. The debate finishes when all answers are finished and discussed with the class.
This activity is a new way to go on a debate by using technology. It is not common, but is
a far more funnier and interesting, thus everyone is involved and can participate actively.
It is a challenging way to explore others opinions and barnstorming, it is a tight timed
activity so everyone must be paying attention to what is going on.
After the debate is ended, there is a small talk to know about the experience and the
main conclusions of the activity.

Activity # 2.4 Collaborative work
Through Guide 1 we made an infography explaining what collaborative work is. Based on
it, we can now make a brief analysis on how we put together all those elements to reach
our goals along this module. It also helps us to improve our own perspective or point of
view about working collaboratively.
Working collaboratively, it is not an easy task for everyone. As we have learned
during this block of studies we realize that each one of us have different types of ways of
doing. Having that in mind, working collaboratively should go beyond those barriers that
we can find along the process. But how to break the walls, to make out of a group work a
satisfactory process?
There are some very important elements that allow a work group to reach their
goals. As the most important ones we can list:
-Communication: is an essential item, sharing information and a correctly communicate
between the members of the group will be very helpful. Always listening and speaking,
respecting the ideas of the group, and being open-minded.
-The goal: is the point where the group want to arrive, is important to always have it
present to prevent any type of deviations from it.
-Commitment: each member of the group must be committed and responsible with the
work to be done.
-Creativity: we all think different, and we all have a giant amount of creative ideas in our
minds, it is important to share them and make from them one very complete and powerful
idea.
-Skills: we all have different types of skills or as we learned different types of
intelligences, join them, mix them, always being flexible.
-Technology tools: technology has advanced as imaginable, use it to your own benefit,
support your work on it.
As a summary, we have made a SWOT matrix:

ACTIVITY # 3 SOCIALIZING THE PROJECT.
Activity # 3.1 Essay final version.
Gracias a

transformación urgente a escala global.
