Student reflection and storytelling leads to discovery for others

Delivering awesome information-seeking experiences that open the door to something bigger

Our user experience goal

When we’re providing information, we don’t let anything get in the way.

Type set in Whitney, in legible sizes, with lots of white space, and a clear hierarchy.

Whitney

Most often in light weight for headings, to portray freedom and open thinking

Medium or Semibold where needed for sub-headings, calls-to-action or emphasis

Book weight for body text. Italics used for titles within text, or lower-level headings.

When we’re opening the door to experiences, we don’t hold anything back.

– thinking unconventionally

– expressing dierent views and perspectives on the world

– and charting their own direction

We show real student experiences, paired with information on how to begin

We bring the UBC brand to life for students by showing their peers

Photos take a staring role. They’re how we show the energy of real students doing inspiring things.

We use large photos to help students feel the results of the opportunity we’re talking about.

Choose photos that feel

natural + conversational

upbeat + inspiring

For us, world-changing means the student’s world changing right in front of the viewer. Their mind expanding. Their learning taking place anywhere and everwhere, supported by their peers and us.

This is what we want to show with our phtoography and design.

There is no Student Services logo. We use the UBC logo, paired with Student Services blue, photos carefully selected to express the Student Services vision, and our theme colours and icons where appropriate

Our theme colours are energetic, happy, and youthful.

We use them, along with the icons, to build awareness of the breadth of experiences and resources that Student Services oers

A large block of a theme colour has impact on posters, signage, and outdoor graphics.

Keep the look bold and simple with white type when using a theme colour background.
