DVD’s and DVD Drives have become an important part of our lives. We use them to transfer data, store photos, burn music and watch movies. But not many know the

full capabilities of such a powerful technology.

Combo DrivesCombo Drives

The most popular combinations of DVD Drives are: CD-RW/DVD, CD-RW/DVD-R,

CD-RW/DVD+R+RW. Some are also combined with Bluray.

Types of DVDsTypes of DVDs

The types of DVD’s are: DVD Video, ROM,

+R, -R, +RW, -RW The prices range from a few cents to a few dollars,

depending on the company and the quality.

Most commonly known as Single Sided –

Single Layer

It can hold up to 4.7 GB of data.

It is supported by the DVD+R/RW and

DVD-R/RW formats.

DVD - 9DVD - 9

Most commonly known as Single-Sided

Double Layer (Dual Layer).

It can hold up to 7.95 GB of data.

It is supported by the DVD+R and DVD-R

formats.

DVD – 10DVD – 10

Most commonly known as Double – Sided

Single Layer.

It can hold up to 8.75 GB of data.

It is supported by DVD+R/RW and DVD-

R/RW formats.

DVD - 18DVD - 18

Most commonly known as Double-Sided

Double Layer.

It can hold up to 15.9 GB of data.

It is supported by the DVD+R format.

DVD – 5’s are used by everyone to store

music, photos or just plain data.

DVD – 9’s can be used to watch DVD
