MULTICITYDISTRICT HEATING

The combined efforts of four municipalities in the middle of Denmark provides 55,000 hou-seholds or approx. 183,000 citi-zens with affordable, stable, and eco-considerate heating.

TVIS purchases and distributes surplus heat from local industries which is used as a ressource to the benefit of household econo-mies and the environment.

THE RED LINEThe TVIS administration office is si-tuated in the middle of what is popu-larly called ”The Triangle Area”. The red line indicates the 83 km pipeline that TVIS maintains and oversees from our 24 hours staffed control room.

MAIN SUPPLIERS OF HEATTVIS´ heat capacity is approx. 6,000 TJ per year. The main suppliers of surplus heat are the SHELL-Refi-nery in Fredericia and Energnist in Kolding - a waste-to-energy plant treating waste from the cities in the area. DONG Energy’s natural gas fired CHP-plant, Skærbækværket, in Fredericia, is supplying TVIS with the largest volume of energy.

SIX DISTRICT HEATING COMPANIESSix district heating companies in the four cities distribute the heat on be-half of approx. 183,000 citizens. This cooperation has been extreme-ly efficient and stable for the last 30 years.

BIOMASS IN 2018In 2018 district heating will be ba-sed on biomass which will reduce dependency on fossil fuels signi-ficantly. This strategic investment will reduce CO2-emissions by 95 % when a new biomass plant will be in operation.
