THIS IS AN EVENING EVENT, PLEASE NOTE
CHANGE IN TIME.
Followed by the PTA Meeting
Every day the office staff is making numerous calls to parents to confirm their child’s after school activities. This adds extra work & confusion to an already busy time of day as we try to ensure that all students are dismissed safely and on time. SDM is set up in a way that gives parents the opportunity to list their child’s plans well in advance with recurring dismissal plans, or change plans right up until 1:30 pm (11:30 am on early dismissal days) daily. The office will no longer be calling parents to confirm their child’s activi-ties. Students will be dismissed from the classroom according to their SDM plans as entered by parents before 1:30 pm (11:30 am on early dismissal days) daily. As always, if you have to change your SDM plan after the cut-off due to an emergency, please call the office. Thank you.
DEADLINE for TN material is Thurs., Jan. 31.
Please email them as a PDF, if there are NO active links.
Otherwise, word or publisher format to bgranskog@er9.org
(203) 938-2519 Ext. 304
Thank you!!
A gentle reminder to make sure that you park and walk your child to and from school. Fire lanes cannot be used, even for short periods of time.
Please send your child with a warm coat, hat and mittens daily. Mittens are best to help foster independence. We try to get outside everyday even as the temperature gets colder. Label ALL items with your child’s name.
Greetings RES Families, Congratulations to all of our super scientists, creators, investigators and engineers who participated in this year’s Imagine a World STEM fair. We had a wonderful variety of creative projects presented. I learned quite a bit from our very own experts! Thank you to our PTA volunteers who helped make this day a great success. Our visitors shared how much fun they had participating in the many science activities in the big gym as well as visiting our young scientists’ stations. Looking forward to seeing what next year’s fair brings! In continued partnership, Natalie Hammond

Dollars and Sense Kindness Club Returns!
In January, the Kindness Club returned to
RES, utilizing a grant from the PTA to
purchase materials. This spring, 2nd,
3rd, and 4th grade students will work on
projects to create valentines for
veterans, blankets for cancer patients,
spring decorations, and kindness rocks.
We can’t wait to see how their kindness
takes shape with these projects!
Box Tops = Free $ for RES!
The RES PTA is able to provide
programs and grants like the one made
to Kindness Club because of funds
raised by RES families. One fundraising

Spotlight on Specials
“Display My Art” Projects Are Underway in Ms. Holden’s Art Class!
RES students have been hard at work in their
art classes in recent weeks working on their
“Display My Art” projects (previously known
as “Square One Art”).
Each student is creating unique pieces of art-
work that can be ordered on items such as T-
shirts, mugs, water bottles, and keychains.
This year, family members will also be able to
create a piece of art to participate in the pro-
gram. Proceeds from the sale of these unique
art items benefit the RES PTA and the pro-
gramming that our organization creates for
our students, school, and staff.
Look in your child’s backpack and in future edi-
tions of Tuesday’s Newsday for details on how
you can order these keepsakes of your child’s
artwork!
Each grade level has their own theme for the Display My Art projects. Pictures above show Second Grade students in the process of creating “Mexican Sun and Moon Designs”, and Fourth Grade students creating “Expressive Self-Portraits”.
