Tú Command Foldable

Use the information on the following slides to complete the foldable for your notes.Some of this information should be familiar because you learned some of this information last year.

Completing the foldable

• Use the next slide to label the outside of your foldable.

• Then use the following slides to complete the inside of the flaps – there is one slide for each flap.

• When you have completed the foldable there are a few additional notes that you need.

Affirmative: Regular FormsUse an affirmative command when you

tell someone to do something

Use the 3rd person singular of the verb

(él, ella, usted form)

Cantar = Canta

Beber = Bebe

Escribir = Escribe

Affirmative: Irregular Forms

Decir = Di Poner = Pon

Hacer = Haz Salir = Sal

Ir = Ve Tener = Ten

Ser = Sé Venir = Ven

Affirmative: Pronoun Placement

Attach pronouns to the end of the command form.

You may need to add an accent mark (on the next to the last syllable of the original command form)

Negative: Regular FormsUse a negative command when you want to

tell someone NOT to do something

Use the “tú” form of the subjunctive.

Cantar = No cantes

Beber = No bebas

Escribir = No escribas

The subjunctive is another set of verb tenses. We will learn how to form this tense after we

finish the foldable.

Negative: Irregular Forms

Dar = No des

Estar = No estés

Ir = No vayas

Ser = No seas

[Note that none of these have

“yo” forms that end in “o”]

Negative: Pronoun Placement

With negative commands, the pronoun comes before the verb.

No la cantes

No lo bebas

No te levantes

You will learn more about how to use the subjunctive tense next year in Spanish 3. But for now you need to know how to form it to make negative “tú” commands.

Here’s a little something to help you remember how to form the subjunctive.

Go to the “Yo”:
