Purpose of listening To pass a quiz on information heard; To predict some of the information

expected to be included in the utterance; To assess how much of the incoming

information will be new and how much will be familiar.

Strategies on listening comprehension

1) Predicting or anticipating content of the foreign-language message (during the pre-listening exercise);
