DESIGNING YOUR

WEBPAGE

Prepared by:

Mrs. R. S. Endaya

PLANNING A HOME PAGE What is the purpose of this Web

page/site? What audience am I trying to reach

and how does this affect my page/site? What information am I trying to

convey? How will I organize the information? What should the home or top page

have on it to attract visitors?

KEEP IT SIMPLE Not everyone has a high

speed link to the internet. Large high resolution graphics take a long time to load.

KEEP THE PAGES SHORT

Large pages of text can take just as long to load as graphics. If you have a lot to say, consider breaking it down into several smaller chunks/portion.

STANDARDIZE YOUR NAVIGATION

- Use a consistent structure and placement for your menus and navigation tools.

MAINTAIN A CONSISTENT LAYOUT/DESIGN

Use horizontal rules to separate sections of the page

It is easier to navigate familiar pages and readers can find what they need more quickly

USE BOLDFACE TO EMPHASIZE A POINT—NOT UNDERLINE OR

hyperlink Italics can be difficult to

read Don't overdo emphasizing

or formatting of text1

reading time because it doesn't provide the visual cues the reader has been subconsciously trained to expect

The All Caps style is considered visual shouting on the Internet
