Time Vs StressHow Prepared are we?

By

Amos Ayebazibwe

Why do we need to learn about time.

Did you Know?

•Millions are lost in a hour when just one core value of time management is compromised.

• That if your chronically stressed about one aspect of your work/business, it is probably a place where you should invest time and money in fixing.

•Over 9of10 staff today take on too much, not giving self enough time.

Time Management Matrix

• Face book, Trivial tweets, Excessive TV,

• Hyper sexualize imagination,

• & other time wasters or non-issues.

• Many interruptions & procrastination,

• Some popular activities,

• Some meetings.

• Emails and phone calls.

• Planning, planning & even more planning

• Relationship building with family, mentors & acquaintances.

• looking after your health or strength building

• Training & personal development.

• Preparing for retirement.

• Upcoming deadlines and crises,

• Last minute preparations,

• Emergencies & procrastination

• Pressing meetings.....all important.

Quadrant 1: Urgent

(Crisis mode)

Quadrant 2: Not Urgent (Proactive

mode)

Quadrant 4: Not urgent

(Disengagement mode)

Quadrant 3: Urgent

(Reactive mode)

Step 1. Identify the problem

Differentiate between productive and unproductive stress• By Principle: Stress is just your body’s response to perceived danger.

• The inclination is to do everything in Quadrant 1 first - the important and urgent tasks because these are the tasks that you have to address!

Step2. Confront the Problem.

Before violently throwing yourself into another stressful situation, take a moment to pay attention to yourself or even reward yourself.

Step2. Confront the Problem.

• It is important to plan for contingencies (which are by themselves unplanned)

• Therefore plan your time carefully and stick to the plan.

• Be willing to compromise i.e always see the big picture & negotiate.

• Work to move to Quadrant 2

How do some instead confront the problem?

• They resort to Quadrant 4: Not urgent (Disengagement mode)

Some people resort to Self-pity

Self-pity denies you control over yourself and kills creativity.

Step 3. Take a stand

If you stand for nothing you will fall everything.

What choice will you make today?

Introducing Quadrant 2

Should you accept this challenge?

State: Be in control and happy

The benefits of quadrant 2

• (As compared to quadrant 1) you are able to assign the right resources and fix mistakes, without the added pressure and urgency of a pressing deadline.

Effective people spend much of their time in this quadrant. They build these important activities into their personal organizer and ensure that they make time for them rather than trying to find time at the end of the day.

Always turn to God.

May God teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.Psalm 39:4

Any questions?

• Did I keep time?
