In alignment with the “Green Trends” of ASHRAE we have eliminated the paper copies of

the Membership Roster. An electronic copy will be available at meetings, upon request.

President’s Pen

Spring has sprung!! And our April Meeting is just about upon

us. For us ASHRAE Meeting participants, April in Baltimore

means Past President’s Night and crab cakes!! What’s not to

like?

Many thanks to Craig Parks for organizing our programs

throughout this year. It is not an easy task arranging

presentations for you - our Membership, but Craig has risen to

the occasion. In March we had a highly informative Tech

Session presented by Mark Shaffer on the “Design and

Application of Compressed Air Systems”. Our Main Meeting

topic was presented by Dr. Rudolf Zaengerle on “High

Performance Run-Around Energy Recovery Systems”. I hope

you were able to take advantage of these excellent

presentations.

Speaking of opportunities, there is a whole lot of ASHRAE

going on this month. On April 1st we will hold our Student

Challenge. Sam Phillip and Rob Broczkowski are organizing

this event and could use all the help they can get. Please

reach out to Sam and/or Rob at studentchaps@ashrae-

balto.org or engweek@ashrae-balto.org and offer your

assistance. Your help is needed and appreciated.

Our April 6th Chapter Meeting will feature a Main Meeting on

“Applying Total Energy Recovery in Labs”. Our Tech Session

is on VFDs. Many thanks to Gus K and the rest of the

professionals at Advanced Thermal Solutions for sponsoring

our Networking Hour this month.

Our 6th Annual fishing tournament will be held on Monday April

17th - opening day for rockfish in the Chesapeake. The latest

word was that 10 of 12 boats have been filled. This event

continues to grow each year.

On April 20th ASHRAE is presenting a webinar on “Take

Control: Using Analytics to Drive Building Performance”.

Cummins-Wagner will host this event locally for any of our

membership interested in this webinar. Please let Brad

Watkins of Cummins-Wagner know if you would like to attend.

Brad can be reached at treasurer@ashrae-balto.org.

The ballot for the Baltimore Chapter of ASHRAE Board of

Governors for the 2017-2018 year is included in this

Thermogram. All Chapter Members are encouraged to

complete this ballot and return it to me. I do not need to say:

“make the Baltimore Chapter of ASHRAE great again”. Our

chapter is in great shape. We have many young, talented and

dedicated people on our Board and Chairing our

Committees. As any great organization though, we could

still use your involvement. Our chapter is in need of

volunteers for the 2017-18 year. Please contact Craig

Parks or any Board Member and express your interest in

supporting your Chapter.
