There’s a Teacher in the Clinic

Is somebody sick?

The term clinic is used to emphasize that the services offered are specialized and individualized. Despite the term, all services are educational and not medical.

A Reading Clinic is

It is an establishment that provides specialized educational intervention services to children who have literacy learning needs.

The ground we stand on

So we can help them go back to the game

We try to catch them

It’s called an ASSESSMENT.

We first try to find out why they are falling.

Exactly what they need to learnIn exactly the way they learn best

It’s called intervention

Then we try to teach them

And we are sometimes called clinicians

Although we’d rather be called TEACHERS

That’s why our center is called a clinic

We show that reading can be fun

We teach them the basics: phonological processing and alphabetic knowledge

We teach them how to decode and spell

We get them to talk about reading and about books

We provide structured fluency practice

We teach comprehension skills and strategies

What do I like about my jobI get to brag about it with my friends—that

my job is so special, unique, and sophisticated. Teacher na kakaiba!

I get to develop long-term friendships with children.

I get to see results almost right away.I learn new things from my students. Did you know that there 2 kinds of bone

marrow? One is red and one is yellow.

What do I like about my jobIt’s mentally

challenging.The hours are kinda

flexible.The pay is almost

fantastic. Pwede na.

I can do what I love to do best all the time—READ.
