In The Hands of Jesus

Mark 10:1, 17-31

Mark 10:1

And he arose from there, and came

into the coasts of Judea by the farther

side of Jordan. The people went out to

him again and, as was his custom, he

taught them again...

Mark 10:17-18

And when he had gone forth into the

way, a man came running, knelt down

to him, and asked him, "Good Master,

what shall I do in order to inherit eternal

life?“ And Jesus said to him, "Why do

you call me good? There is none good

but one, that is, God.

Mark 10:19-20

You know the commandments, 'Do not

commit adultery,' 'Do not kill,' 'Do not

steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do

not defraud,' 'Honor your father and

mother.'" And he answered and said to

him, "Master, I have observed all these

from my youth."

Mark 10:21

Then Jesus, looking upon him, loved

him, and said to him, "One thing you

lack; go your way, sell whatsoever you

have, and give to the poor, and you

shall have treasure in heaven;

And come, take up the cross, and

follow me."

Mark 10:22-23

And he was sad at that saying, and

went away grieved, for he had great

possessions.

And Jesus looked around and said to

his disciples, "How difficult it shall be

for those who have riches to enter into

the kingdom of God!"

Mark 10:24

And the disciples were astonished at

his words.

But Jesus answered again, and said to

them, "Children, how hard is it for those

who trust in riches to enter into the

kingdom of God!

Mark 10:25-26

“It is easier for a camel to go through

the eye of a needle, than for a rich man

to enter into the kingdom of God.”

And they were astonished beyond

measure, saying among themselves,

"Who then can be saved?"

Mark 10:27-28

And Jesus looking upon them said,

"With men it is impossible, but not with

God; for with God all things are

possible."

Then Peter began to say to him,

"Look, we have left everything, and

have followed you."

Mark 10:29

And Jesus answered and said,

"Truly, I say to you:

There is no man who has left house, or

brothers, or sisters, or father, or

mother, or wife, or children, or lands,

for my sake, and the gospel's…

Mark 10:30-31

"But he shall receive a hundredfold now

in this time, houses, and brothers, and

sisters, and mothers, and children, and

lands, with persecutions; and in the

world to come eternal life.

"But many who are first shall be last,

and the last first."

You Can’t Take It With You

Champagne Dreams

Looks can be deceiving…

…it is easier for a camel to go through

the eye of a needle,

than for a rich man to enter into

the kingdom of God.

(Mark 10:25)

How does that verse go?

…the love of money is a root

of all kinds of evil.

(1 Timothy 6:10)

Anyone can be greedy…

"...how hard it is for those who

trust in riches

to enter into the kingdom of God.“

(Mark 10:24)

A commendable man…

1. He came running

2. He knelt before Jesus

3. He believed the Word

Failing to recognize Jesus

Jesus – a great rabbi?

Or the Son of God?

Turning Jesus intoanother lifestyle choice

Jesus – a lifestyle choice?

Or Lord of All?

Failing to see we can’tmake it without Him

The false supports of :

- Our own riches

- Our own righteousness

The Gift of Salvation

“…the wages of sin is death;

but the gift of God is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

1. He sees things clearly !

“Children, how hard is it

for those who trust in riches

to enter into the kingdom of God!”

Mark 10:24

2. He knows what lies ahead !

I know the plans I have for you…

Jer. 29:11

3. He multiplies whatHe handles

…but he shall receive

a hundredfold…

Mark 10:29-30

4. He is able to do anything !

"With men it is impossible,

but not with God;

for with God

all things are possible.“

Mark 10:27

Able to save you!

…He [Jesus] is able…

to save them to the uttermost

that come to God by him,

because he ever lives

to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7:25
