The Troublewith Teddy

About Teddy, the Handicat…

Ted is neurologically damaged. He is less than one year old. He has been in foster care for 4 months, And has no awareness of his disabilities. Despite all of his problems, he has made recent

progress with the help of a Homeopathic Vet. Most of all, Ted is the kindest, most loving cat

you could ever know…

In the beginning… Ted came into foster care with a bad abrasion

and infection on his leg. He was not able to walk properly, but was able to

scoot along and drag himself, or stand up and fall over shortly after a step or two.

His foster mom discovered that he suffered from multiple seizures when he falls into a deep sleep.

Despite everything Ted was able to use the litter box successfully.

Over time… Teddy’s infection healed, but his overall

physical and mental health declined. His black hair became speckled with gray. He became progressively weaker, dehydrated,

and mentally foggy. Worse yet, Ted developed chronic diarrhea

which severely impacted his use of a litter box. If he was to make it into the box, he would inevitably fall over into the mess.

Time for Diapers… A tough but

understandable decision, Ted was downgraded to wearing diapers.

He has coped very well with the transition that made his care much easier.

Ted's Homeopathic Experience Volunteers at the Genesee County Animal

Shelter decided to send Ted to a wonderful Homeopathic Veterinarian. Under her guidance, he has received:

Advice for a non-allergy, natural diet A couple of homeopathic remedies

along with acupuncture to address his multiple seizures

Herbal remedies for diarrhea, calmness, plus kidney as well as overall health

An Incredible Progress… Ted’s foster mom will admit she was a

homeopathic skeptic, but that she has been proven wrong.

Ted has substantially improved! His graying hair is turning back

to black His diarrhea is subsiding and he is

stabilizing on a practical yet affordable diet

He is having significantly less seizures His overall health and body strength is

improving so much that…

Teddy is strong enough to stand!

And getting stronger every day!

But The Trouble with Ted is… His adoptability:

Not many people can invest the time or money required for full-time care or the special diet and homeopathic/herbal remedies that he’ll most likely require for life.

His long-term health: If an adopting family were to stray from his special requirements,

our fear is that Ted will again suffer from diahrrhea, severe diaper rash, dehydration, multiple seizures, plus a quick decline in physical and mental health, or even abandonment.

The impracticality of permanent small-town foster care: Ted does not want to live in a cage forever, yet volunteer foster

homes in this area are always filled to capacity. Ted needs to be kept away from household dangers and other animal foods that will upset his system. Permanent small-town foster care for Ted affects hundreds of other cats that could be fostered in his place.

Ted needs a permanentfull – care – facility – home

where he can love and be loved…
