The three little pigs

AND, BUT, SO and BECAUSE

We use AND to add information. We use AND to connect grammatically coordinate words, phrases,

or clauses.

• Once upon a time there were three little pigs: Tom, Will, and Jack. They lived with their mother. Then they grew up and they left home to build their houses.

BUT is another conjunction to add information; when we use BUT we mean on the contrary.

• They were very happy, but they were worried about the wolf. They had to build their future houses, but they had to use very strong materials to be protected from the wolf.

We use BECAUSE to explain the reason or the causes of something.

• The three little pigs were scared because the wolf wanted to eat them. Tom, Will, and Jack ran to the brick house, because it was the safest. The houses made of straw and wood collapsed, because they were very weak.

We use SO to connect the reason with the result. Ex. It was raining so I took my umbrella.

• The wolf couldn’t pull down the brick house, so he tried to enter through the chimney. The fire was on, so the wolf got burnt.

Homework: write a story.

• Write a story like the one of the Three little pigs.

• Write 4 parragraphs and draw four pictures as well.

• You must use AND, BUT, BECAUSE and SO.
