The 20th of August
The 20th of August
One of our oldest Hungarian National Holidays
This day is also the nameday of Stephen
We celebrate on this day: King Saint Stephen
and the Foundation of the Christian State
At the end of his life King St. Stephen offered his country to
Blessed Virgin on this day.
On the 20th of August in 1083 King Leslie I. canonized the relics of King
Stephen I.
In 1771Maria Theresahas made this day a National

the Holy Right in procession across Budapest.
On this day we celebrate the first bread of the year after the harvest.
