The Importance Of Productivity, Focus, And Measurement

Although Unemployment Is At 9.4% And Getting Higher…

Employers are overlooking the jobless for those who have jobs.

The reason being:

It is assumed that those who were let go are not as productive as those who were not.

Employers want productive employees!

If You Are A Productive Employee, Then Chances Are That Employers Will Do What They Can To Keep You On.

If you are not productive, then you will be seen more as a taker than a giver, and your

job will always be in jeopardy.

While In School, I Spent Hours Every Day In The Library.

I noticed that the best students were always the most focused.

When studying with these students, I could feel their focus and their energy

A Good Deal Of My Day Is Spent Overlooking The Productivity of Employees.

I can tell who is being productive, and who is not. Any decent supervisor can tell who is

being productive, and who is not.

Employees Frequently Attempt To Avoid Having Their Productivity Measured.

Most companies have methods for keeping track of productivity:

• There are quotas for salespeople• Attorneys bill their work by the hour• Many people have to clock in and out

And

•The boss simply watches who comes in late, and who leaves early

Working In A Place Where Productivity Is Measured Is Good For You.

Knowing where you stand with productivity gives you the tools to know where you’re at and to keep your job.

When I Was 15 I Worked At A Call Center Signing People Up For Credit Cards.

I clocked in at 5:30 PM and worked until 9:30 PM.

While most kids would sign up 2 or 3 per night, I would sign up upwards of 50.

Eventually, they moved me to my own office so that nothing would disturb me.

You Want To Work For An Employer Who Is Measuring Productivity.

Any company not measuring productivity is likely to have problems.

• Nobody would know what was going on

• Who is productive and who is not?

• You could lose your job in an arbitrary way.

People At The Highest Levels Of The Professional World Are Paid For Their Ability To Focus.

• A skilled surgeon earns more than a regular doctor because his job takes more focus.

• A patent lawyer earns more than a litigation lawyer because his job requires more focus.

The More Focused You Are, The More Productive You Are With Your Time.

There is nothing more important in your job than productivity. Without it, you will lose direction in

your job. Ultimately, if you are not measuring your productivity, you will lose direction in your

career.

Productivity Is Rewarded By Society.

What you produce in any given job is more important than what you take.

You must consciously create tremendous value.

You should develop personal statistics that allow you to measure your own

productivity.

Several Years Ago I Hired A Talented Young Attorney To Work For Me On A Contractual Basis.

He really impressed me. He would send a well-written, detailed report to me each week about what he had

accomplished. If he had never left our company, I can say with utmost certainty, that he would never have lost his

job.

Over The Years, I Can Say Without A Doubt...

That the best employees are the ones who document their productivity. No one that has

done this has ever lost their job.

About Six Years Ago, An Employee Of Mine Was Telling Me About...

How someone they knew had just received a large inheritance, and that this person would never have to work

again.

This has never appealed to me.

To Work Is To Contribute, And Add Value To Society.

Working gives you purpose and allows you to be engaged in your life everyday.

Nothing is more important than working and doing your best at your job.

I Have Been Reading Many Articles About People Losing Their Jobs.

Those people are having trouble finding new jobs.

Many law firms only want persons who have not been laid off submitted as potential

employees.

If you are working hard and are very productive, you will most likely not get laid off.
