WHEN YOU CHANGE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THINGS…THE THINGS YOU LOOK AT CHANGE

OBJECTIVES• Develop creative thinking and self-esteem in

children 5 to 15 years old living in communities in need.

• Give them a tool to express their ideas and emotions and generate awarereness about their living conditions.

• Generate funds to create social changes.

Ruka

Ollantaytambo

FIRST PROJECTIn Ruka

Comunidad de Huilloc,Cuzco, PeruCuzco, Perú

Community of about 20 families, 180 people.

3500 meters above sea level.

No road access; help doesn’t reach them.Children walk 1.5 hours to go to shool.

Temperature between -5 and 15ºC.

They use sandals all year long.

Their diet consists mainly of potatoes and corn.

Children suffer from serious malnutrition problems.

They deserve to have their basic needs fulfilled.

METHODOLOGY

1. Live with them in their communities.

2. Connect with the children and their families.

3. With words, tell us about Ruka

4. With drawings, tell us about Ruka

5. The camera as an other story telling tool.

6. With photographs tell the world about Ruka.

Share with other children what you like about Ruka

Share how you see with the others

7. Share your photos and critisize them.

RESULTS

PHASE 1

The Dream

Build a GreenhouseFor the children

Unable and educate the children to improve their nutrition. Create a model for the parents to follow.

Grow fruit, vegetables and protein in a closed and warm environment that could not grow otherwise: a creative and educative playground for the children

Replicate the Project in other communities
