A Message from our Lay Leaders:
The Quester Fairfield Grace United
Methodist Church
September
2018
Fairfield Grace family members and friends,
Greetings! We hope you all had a wonderful summer with a time of retreat and renewal as we get ready for our fall season of ministry, hope and love.
We would like to welcome back Pastor Cho, who was on vacation in Peru, Bolivia and California these last few weeks. Sunday service is not the same without you, but, as Lay Leaders, we did our best. Your enthusiasm and beautiful voice was greatly missed. We hope you enjoyed your much needed vacation as you returned to us with hope, new ideas, lots of energy and new plans for fall. We are glad God brought you back to us safely.
July was an eventful month with the Baptism of AJ DeNeutte (son of Deanna and Eugene) and a reception following in Tremayne Hall with the congregation invited. Our youth went to Dover, New Hampshire and accomplished so many good deeds working together. A great week as our Pastor became Head Dishwasher. A labor of love for all. July was also the Korean Peace March in Washington, DC, which our Pastor was a part of. Great job by all.
In August, we had our huge Tag Sale that Patty Jurgielewicz organized again this year. She does such a great job. Many people helped to make it a success. A lot of work was put into it and close to three thousand dollars was raised for our “Scholarship Fund”. We also had our Annual Golf Outing at the end of August followed by an Open House given by Pastor Cho and his wife, Kyong Hee, in the church yard. So nice to have this get together. A good time was had by all.
Now, we are entering into September. We hope you are all renewed and feeling blessed as we start this fall season together. We have so many activities in which to be involved and attend starting with Spaghetti Dinner, Rally Day and a new program, ALPHA.
We feel we are so fortunate to be able to do so many things together as a congregation. Hallelujah!
We are looking forward to seeing you as we start this fall journey together.
With God’s Blessing,
Lee Del Vecchio and Judy Vindheim

Coming to Fairfield Grace...
ALPHA Program starts Tuesday, September 18
6:30 pm - 8:15 pm
Tremayne Hall and Fellowship Hall
Please join us on Tuesday evenings for a new program at Fairfield Grace:
ALPHA, a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith
with talk, food and good conversation.
Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
Probably the most important part of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic and simply discuss it in a small group.
Sessions will take place every Tuesday (6:30 pm – 8:15 pm) from Sept 18 – Nov 27.
Invite your FRAN (Friends, Relatives, Associates and Neighbors).
Register by contacting Pastor Cho (914-319-4142 or kunsamcho92@gmail.com), contacting the church office (203-374-6528) or
by completing the registration form found in the September Quester by Friday, Sept 14 (copies will be available at the church, as well).
Please contact Pastor Cho with any questions.

Taste of Alpha Tuesday, September 18
6:30-8:15 pm
Fairfield Grace Fellowship and Tremayne Halls
A “Taste of Alpha” is a one-evening preview of what a typical Alpha Course evening is like. It carries no obligation to sign up for the full 10-week course. Enjoy a complimentary dinner, followed by a video presentation that introduces you to the Alpha Course.
What Is the Alpha Course? Alpha is a practical introduction to the Christian faith. It gives everyone the opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a
relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course meets once a week for 10 weeks, including a one-day weekend retreat. Sessions begin with a meal, followed by a short video talk and time to discuss what's been taught in small groups.
During the discussion, everyone is welcome to contribute their opinions and no question is considered hostile or too simple. Questions might include—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going?

MANY THANKS!

Jurgielewicz held a H U G E tag sale here at our church. The Team would like to
thank all the church members who donated, purchased, helped set up and helped
pack up. There was a lot of involvement. The funds raised, about $3,000, help
finance the scholarships we present to our young people each year.

Consider a Bequest to Fairfield Grace in Your Will
Your gifts to Fairfield Grace ensure the means to continue the mission and ministry of the church into the fu-
ture. Members and friends are encouraged to make a bequest in a Will to benefit the church or specific minis-
tries of the church.
Ways to designate the amount of your bequest:
Specific Dollar Amount,
I give, devise and bequest to Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church located at 1089 Fairfield Woods
Road Fairfield, CT the sum of ________ dollars ($ _______) {or specifically described personal or real
property} for its general uses and purposes. [The bequest can also designate
specific ministries or purposes for its use.]
Specific Percentage,
I give; devise and bequest to Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church located at 1089 Fairfield Woods
Road Fairfield, CT an amount equal to ___ percent (__ %) of the value of my gross or net estate, both
real and personal for its general uses and purposes. [The bequest can also designate specific ministries
or purposes for its use.]
Residual Bequest,
I give; devise and bequest to Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church located at 1089 Fairfield Woods
Road Fairfield, CT the entire residue of my estate, both real and personal for its general uses and
purposes. [The bequest can also designate specific ministries or purposes for its use.]
The bequest can be added as a codicil/attachment to your current Will. If you don’t have a Will the State of
Connecticut will determine who receives your estate after your death. Anyone that owns a house should have a
Will if they know who they want to receive their remaining estate. It will also keep the cost of settling the
estate down.
(These are suggestions and should be approved by your attorney.)

To Our Fairfield Grace Family, We are so grateful to our Fairfield Grace family for the outpouring of support and en-couragement. Since my fall April 26th, we have received cards, notes, e- mails and vis-its that brightened our spirits. Delicious meals have been provided by some of our wonderful cooks. It has blessed us to know that we are enfolded in your prayers. Please accept our heartfelt appreciation for your many kindnesses during this chal-lenging time. Our love in Christ, Karen & Bob Price
