Intelligent Testing

Zwick at the JEC 2014

The JEC is among the most important international trade shows in the field of advanced composites. Zwick is present at this annual event since several years, always situated within the exhibition area of Baden-Württemberg International.

Our equipment at the exhibition: • AllroundLine Z020 Electro-mechanic testing machine, equipped for tensile, in-plane shear and interlaminar shear tests• zwickiLine Z1.0 Electro-mechanic testing machine in single column design, equipped for GIC Energy release rate measurements. • zwickiLine Z1.0 Electro-mechanic testing machine in single column design, equipped for 3-point and 4-point flexural tests• Hydraulic Composites Compression Fixture, HCCF for compression tests to Airbus AITM, ASTM, ISO and EN standards. • makroXtens, the digital extensometer for accurate extension and reduction-in-width measurement• Alignment measurement equipment Hardware, software and alignment gage for easy-to-handle alignment verification and adjustment.• A selection of further test fixtures

Zwick offers a very comprehensive range of testing equipment for static and dynamic tests. This includes electro-mechanical testing machines from 1 kN to 1200 kN, servo-hydraulic testing machines for all kinds of fatigue tests, creep testing equipment, HDT instruments, pendulum impact testers in conventional and instrumented version, drop weight machines and hardness testers.

Lectures at the exhibition booth

Dr.-Ing. Kay André Weidenmann

teaches at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

He is the head of the department “Hybrid Materials and Lightweight Constructions”, which is a part of the Institute for Applied Materials. In research, his department focuses on mechanical material characterizations of composites and light metals for construc-tion applications, as well as on the structural analysis in this field by means of computer tomography.

Helmut Fahrenholz

studied Mechanical Engineering in Germany (Bremen, Saarbrücken) and in France (Metz).

He joined Zwick in 1987 and worked in different positions, first as Application and Training Engineer, as Product Manager, as Co-Sales-Manager and as Country Support Manager for French speaking countries. Since 1998 he specialized more and more in the field of poly-mer testing and became Zwick’s Industry Manager for Plastics, Composites and Rubber. Within this task he is deeply involved in market research, product development and different sales support tasks. Helmut Fahrenholz is a member of several nati-onal and international standard committees such as ISO/TC 61 and ISO/TC 45.
