Test Taking Tips

For PASS

Think positive!

Don’t panic.

A positive attitude will aid in success!

Bring all the materials you need (#2 pencils, reading

materials, etc.).

Sometimes part of the test itself is whether ornot you can follow directions.

Answer the easy questions first. Skip the hard questions and comeback to them.

When you

finish, go back and check your work. It may help youspot a careless error.

Guessing is O.K. if you know how!

1.Read all the answers.

2.Decide which ones

are obviously wrong.

3.Choose your “best guess from the answers left.

If you don’t understand the instructions, ask your teacher for help!

If you work too fast, you make careless mistakes. Take your time!

Judge the right speed for you, but don’t waste time.

Only, Always, All and Never mean with no exception.

Most Generally and May mean that some exceptions may be possible.

If you find a word you don’t understand, look at the

words around it. Sometimes this will give you a clue as to the

meaning of the word.

Mistakes should be erased very carefully and

completely.

Never give up. A quitter has yet to pass a test.

Only give 100% (your best effort throughout testing).

Pay attention to

what you are doing; not to other kids in the room.

Remain quiet throughout testing! Your consideration during a test may mean the difference for other students still taking the test.

Relax! Anxiety has lowered more test scores than not knowing the

right answer.

Watch where you mark! Stray marks could decrease your score.

Take your time! Slow down if you are going too fast. Remember, this is not a timed test!

After reading the question, stop and think about what is being asked to be sure you understand.

Valuable information about what you already know and need to learn is

found out through testing.

We, the DMS Falcons, are ready for PASS!

EXtra effort is worth it!

You can make maximize your score if you employ these ABC’s….
