Do you have some time to spare from 3:30pm onwards tomorrow after school?
Members of the PEB Maintenance Committee are looking for support to finish off
some painting/staining work near the portables. Your support, even for a short
time, would be greatly appreciated. Feel free just to turn up. Thank you.
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Children,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and managed to back a winner on The Cup. Now that November
has hit the calendar, it’s going to be full-steam ahead for a multitude of events that include:
Foundation Orientation Sessions on November 7th, 15th, 24th and December 12th
The Athletics Carnival on November 9th
The Foundation, One and Two “Junior Production” on November 16th
The Senior Sports Awards Assembly on November 24th
...among many other events
Please keep your eye on the School Calendar so that the major school events are highlighted in your
family’s calendars at home. It’s the time of the year when the family, public, school and work calendars
magically need to work together in harmony. Not an easy feat!
Angie Polglaze is back
and some hard-
working students have
been helping her with
the final touches on
The Four Evangelists!
Mt. Alexander Road Crossing
We have received a message from the Crossing supervisor in Mt Alexander Road to say that
there are a number of families who are not using the crossing correctly. Users of the crossing
must cross between the white lines. She reports that a number of people (mainly adults) are
crossing the road outside the lines. Please make safe choices when using this crossing.
Yours sincerely
Peter Moore
Principal
Teachers who love teaching … teach students to
love learning! Here are some examples of passionate
‘teaching and learning' at St Monica's this week!
Traffic Light Sandwiches!
Look closely at these sandwiches! Can you
see that three different coloured foods have
been chosen to represent the colours of
traffic lights! Could you guess which
‘healthy’ food options may have been
used? If you could make your own
sandwich with these colour combinations -
what would you choose?
Jan - Ken - Pon
I could hear the tuneful singing of Year 3 students …..they were singing
a rhyme called, Jan - Ken - Pon! I recognised some hand actions. Then,
I had a light bulb moment to realise that the students were singing and
playing the well known game of ‘Rock-Paper-Scissors’ in
…....Japanese!
Catholic Social Teaching
The Year 6 students were thoroughly engaged in a thought provoking
discussion about ‘Preferential Options for the Poor’. This is one of six
areas to be unpacked as part of their
Catholic Social Teaching. Is the division
of the World’s resources equal?
Hands On!
Paper plates are great materials for making
craft - and creating a model to explain the
orbit of the Earth and Moon is no
different. The Year 4 students got creative
and used coloured paint to make a model
sun, moon and earth! I can’t wait to see the
final product!
Student of the Week Certificates will be presented at assembly on Friday 11th November at
2.45pm. Whole School Awards Assembly (Location: Senior Yard)
