Tennessee Border States

• TN shares shares boundaries with eight states. A boundary is the edge of a region.

• Boundaries between states are called political boundaries.

Tennessee’s Three Grand Divisions

• Tennessee is divided into regions called the three grand divisions:– West Tennessee– Middle Tennessee– East Tennessee

West Tennessee• The Mississippi River and

the Tennessee River form

• A major city in West TN is Memphis. It is located on the Mississippi River.

• Memphis has the largest
