Teaching primary maths:The essentials for all teachers 2016 After School PD courses presented by Anita Chin
Hosted by Metro Sydney schools
Each 2-hour hands-on course is designed to support a whole school approach for implementation of the new NSW Mathematics K-6 Syllabus. The content is delivered in a short and sharp bite-sized format so that educators can takeideas back to school and then delve deeply into them with their stage team or whole staff.

Anita has a passion for hands-on activities that
engage learners of all ages. She strives to model practical
ideas for differentiating instruction and to support school leaders and classroom teachers with curriculum implementation. With over 20 years experience as a classroom teacher and as a teacher educator in both primary and secondary contexts across Australia, she draws upon a wealth of knowledge to model best practice for engaging learners with diverse needs and abilities. Her research into the use of concrete materials and experience teaching pre-service teachers at the University of Sydney allows her to translate research into practice. Anita holds a MEd in Teaching and Curriculum Studies and runs her own Mathematics Education Consultancy business.

Places are limited to 40 participants per event Time: Afternoon tea 3:45 pm, workshop 4 - 6 pm
Schools are encouraged to ‘pick’ the most relevant courses depending on where they are on their learning journey then strategically ‘choose’ the most appropriate educators to attend i.e. classroom teachers, Maths team members, executive. The intent is for schools to then implement the new ideas at either a whole stage or whole school level.
