ABOUT AJAPAWORLD

Ajapaworld is based on the character of Ajapa the tortoise – the age-old Nigerian folklore icon. Our products and services have been around since 2003 with the publishing of the book Ajapa; the Day Tortoise Broke His Shell, authored by Akin Braithwaite.

The brand essence is taken from the traits of the folklore character namely: - longevity, intuitive wisdom, intelligence, fun, can do, resilience.

Ajapaworld engages with its primary audience - Children and early Teens through various forms including: Folklore Books, Television Programs, Radio Shows, Stage Dance Drama, Newspaper Activity pull-out pages, Animation, School Clubs.

Our Club is an activity based learning club that teaches children:•Responsibility•Networking•Protecting the environment•Save money, delayed gratification and about money•The entrepreneur sprit•Learn to earn money

OUR STRATEGIES

•Our Club is free•Members who subscribe to the financial literacy club will receive:

•A journal (Monthly)•A tortoise Bank•Wristband

•Create more interactions between the parents, the school, Ajapa and the child. Through our point earning system•Children who interact with Ajapa will receive freebies from Ajapa•Children who also teach other children Ajapa principles will also receive rewards from Ajapa like:

•Featuring in Ajapaworld Media•Earning badges•Prizes

REWARD JOURNAL

•Fun Activities for children•Helps a child keep records of his expenditure•All the monies he/she receives, spends and how much he is able to keep for the future•To help set and keep track of targets set by children•To help define chores that can earn the child reward and focus on developing skills•To help keep record of the child’s performance by both school, parents and Ajapa in daily, weekly and monthly tasks•Entrepreneur guides to help empower the children and teach other children

HOW IT WORKS!

•Children can receive a maximum of 100 points every week from both the school and the home.•Parents agree with their children on how much they are willing to give per point weekly.

•i.e if the parents are willing to give each child N200 maximum weekly , it will be N200 ÷ 100points = N2 per points

•The school will give the child a total of 40 points weekly while the child will earn a total of 60 points weekly from his home.•Children are graded in the following categories

•Not At all 0•Ok - 1•Very Good- 2

HOW IT WORKS (SCHOOL)

•The school will grade the children on a weekly basis on four main activities which includes

•Teamwork and Class participation•Homework•Obedience•Punctuality

•Children give their teachers their journals to fill at the end of each day•The school will give the children a maximum of 8 points daily and 40 points weekly.

HOW IT WORKS (HOME)

For the parents:• parents agree with the children on what

chores or activities they will earn points for

• Children will earn daily points from their parents on the agreed parameters.

• Parents can give the children a maximum of 10 points a daily and 60 points weekly.

Points the child earn from school and home are combined and the child can receive a maximum total of 100 points every weekParents are expected to convert this points to cash or whatever reward they have earlier agreed with the child.

GETTING YOUR REWARDS!

•The child’s total points are calculated weekly Parent will convert the points to cash for the children•Children will take out the percentage they wish to spend and keep the rest in the Tortoise Bank•Parents are advised to open a bank account of their choice for the children•Children will be able to take their savings under the supervision of the parents to the bank and watch it grow!!!

AJAPA REWARDS

•Ajapa rewards children for participating in club activities such as:

•Participating in or sending content for the Ajapa media•Protecting the environment•Using technology to participate in activities•Teaching other children saving and entrepreneur activities.

•Children will be featured in Ajapa Media and will receive gifts from Ajapa for participating in Ajapa activities

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Children meet weekly and are taught the following by the Ajapa Champion :-• Goals Setting• Savings• Converting and idea into money• Writing business plan• Developing a Product• Importance of advertising• Responsibility• Marketing your products• Business ethics & laws

*note this lessons are tailor-made to suit each age groups

COMPETITION

Schools and Children can register for our yearly competition. Schools and children who have been able to develop their own business will be able to competition in this category where they will be expected to tell us their business stories; their experiences, challenges and they have discovered about running the business.

7 years and under- will make a video and tell us their experience

8- 12 years old- Write a story about what the experience was like

13- young adults – will give a business report and can also source for partnerships
