Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Odd Otter Brewing Co. earn Chamber business awards
Posted online Mon., Sept. 28By Todd Matthews, EditorThe City of Tacoma has applied for a $10,000
grant from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department as part of the organization's 2015 Walkability Grant Program, according to Taco-ma City Manager T.C. Broadnax's most recent weekly report to Tacoma City Council.
If the application is approved and grant funds are awarded to the City, the money would be used conduct door-to-door canvassing surveys and host organized community meetings to gath-er information about transportation habits in Tacoma's Hilltop and Lincoln District neighbor-hoods, according to City staff. The grant would also be used to plan events that encourage pe-destrians to use local streets for recreation and active transportation. According to the grant application available online, the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is expected to award grants worth as much as $10,000 to as many as six local organizations. On Monday, a Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department representa-tive told the Tacoma Daily Index a list of grant recipients will be announced in October.
The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Depart-ment's Walkability Grant Program aims to im-prove walkability, health equity, and engage-ment in Pierce County communities in order to increase physical activity and prevent chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and hearth disease.
$10K grant could boost Hilltop, Lincoln District walkability programs

HEARING RE RELINQUISHMENT OF CHILD/TERMINATION OF
PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP
SUPERIOR COURT FOR THE STATE OF WASHINGTON
IN THE COUNTY OF KINGIN THE MATTER OF THE ADOPTION OF INFANT GIRL EISIMINGER, a person under the age of eighteen.
TO: XAVIER MILLS a/k/a XAVIER NILLS and MICHAEL CLARK a/k/a MI- CHAEL NILLS, and JOHN DOE (UNKNOWN)
AND TO ANY OTHER INTERESTED PARTY
You are hereby summoned to ap- pear within thirty days after the date of first publication of this summons, to- wit, within thirty days after the 25TH day of September, 2015, and defend the above-entitled action in the above- entitled court, and answer the petition of the Petitioners and serve a copy of your answer upon the undersigned at- torneys for Petitioners at the office be- low stated; if you fail to do so, judg- ment may be rendered against you ac- cording to the request of the petition which has been filed with the Clerk of said Court.
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that a petition has been filed in this court praying that the parent-child relation- ship between the parents of the above- named child and the above-named child be terminated. The object of the action is to seek an order relinquishing the child to the Petitioners for adop- tion and to terminate the parent-child relationship.
The child was conceived in Decem- ber 2014 in Lakewood, Washington and was born in Lakewood, Washing- ton on September 5, 2015. The child’s birth mother is Milicia Eisiminger.
The Petitioners are also seeking temporary placement of the child with them. The court hearing on this matter shall be on the 26th day of October, 2015 at 9:00 am in the King County Superior Court; address: King County Courthouse, Ex Parte Department, Court Room W-325, 516 Third Ave- nue, Seattle, Washington 98104. YOUR FAILURE TO APPEAR AT THIS HEARING MAY RESULT IN A DEFAULT ORDER PERMANENTLY TERMINATING ALL OF YOUR RIGHTS TO THE ABOVE-NAMED CHILD.
NOTICE: State and federal law pro- vide protections to defendants who are on active duty in the military ser- vice, and to their dependents. Depen- dents of a service member are the s e r - vice member’s spouse, the service member’s minor child, or an individual for whom the service member provid- ed more than one-half of the individu- al’s support for one hundred eighty days immediately preceding an appli- cation for relief.
One protection provided is the pro- tection against the entry of a default judgment in certain circumstances. This notice only pertains to a defen- dant who is a dependent of a member of the national guard or a military re- serve component under a call to ac- tive service for a period of more than
thirty consecutive days. Other defen- dants in military service also have pro- tections against default judgments not covered by this notice. If you are the dependent of a member of the national guard or a military reserve component under a call to active service for a pe- riod of more than thirty consecutive days, you should notify the petitioner or the petitioner’s attorney in writing of your status as such within twenty days of the receipt of this notice. If you fail to do so, then a court or an adminis- trative tribunal may presume that you are not a dependent of an active duty member of the national guard or re- serves, and proceed with the entry of an order of default and/or a default judgment without further proof of your status. Your response to the petitioner or petitioner’s attorneys about your status does not constitute an appear- ance for jurisdictional purposes in any pending litigation nor a waiver of your rights.
You are further notified that any non- consenting parent or alleged father has a right to be represented by an at- torney, and an attorney will be ap- pointed for an indigent parent who re- quests an attorney. You are further no- tified that your failure to file a claim of paternity under Chapter 26.26 RCW within thirty days of the first publica- tion of this notice or to respond to the petition within thirty days of the first publication of this notice is grounds to terminate your parent-child relation- ship with respect to the child.
You are further notified that if you are the alleged father of an Indian child, and you acknowledge paternity of the child, or if your paternity of the child is established prior to the termi- nation of the parent-child relationship, your parental rights may not be termi- nated unless you: (i) give valid consent to termination, or (ii) your parent-child relationship is terminated involuntarily pursuant to 26.33 or 13.34 RCW.
One method of filing your response and serving a copy on the Petitioner is to send them your written response by certified mail with return receipt re- quested.
