From the Matterhorn to the Upper Enga-

dine, travel on the famous Glacier Express

– one of Switzerland’s best scenic train

rides across the Alps connecting two of the

most popular resorts – Zermatt and St.

Moritz. The entire journey takes around

7h30min and crosses 291 bridges, passes

through 91 tunnels and climbs over the

2033m high Oberalp Pass. There are, of

course, faster ways to travel but none as

beautiful as the journey by Glacier Express,

Day 1: Arrival Zermatt

Transfer by train from the border to Zermatt. Short walk to your hotel and check in. Zermatt lies at the foot of the Mat-terhorn, the world’s most famous mountain. The Bernina Express runs through the an-

cient landscape of Switzerland‘s beautiful

Grisons region, crossing 55 tunnels, 196

bridges along the way. Special panoramic

Express line has been classed as a

Switzerland via the Bernese Oberland to the

Lake Geneva region. The golden panorama

train winds through vineyards and gardens

Starting in the German-speaking Lucerne region, the journey takes you over the Brünig pass along Lake Brienz to Interlaken. You then reach the Simmen valley and the world-renowned Gstaad. Day 1: Arrival Montreux

Transfer to Montreux by rail. The town nestles in a shel-

tered Lake Geneva bay, surrounded by vineyards and

against breath-taking backdrop of snow-covered Alps. Be-

cause of the exceptionally mild climate, Montreux is called

the capital of the “Swiss Riviera”. Plants associated with

the Mediterranean, such as pines, cypresses and palm

trees grow here. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 2: Montreux

Visit the famous Chateau de Chillon, one of the best-

preserved medieval castles in Europe, take a cruise on

Lake Geneva or enjoy a mountain excursion to the Ro-

chers-de-Naye peak for fantastic views of the lake and the

surrounding French and Swiss Alps. Overnight in Mont-

reux.

Day 6: Interlaken— St Moritz with Glacier Ex-

press

Depart Interlaken by train to Brig where you will join

the Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panora-

mic carriages to St. Moritz, taking in some of the

most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer with

commentary explaining the amazing engineering

feat in overcoming extreme altitude variations by

train. Overnight in St. Moritz.

Day 7: St Moritz—Tirano with Bernina Express

Today you will ride on the Bernina Express over the

Bernina Pass, past mighty glaciers and over the

highest point at 2253 m, down to the palm trees of

the mountain village of Tirano (Italy). You have

around two hours to visit the cathedral and experi-

ence some of the exceptional local cuisine on offer

before starting your return journey. Overnight in St.

Moritz.

Day 8: Departure

After your breakfast start your journey by train to

the airport back home.

Day 3: Montreux—Interlaken (with Goldenpass

Line)

Board the GoldenPass train from Montreux and re-

lax in the panoramic carriage as it sweeps through

the many vineyards and country estates on its way

to Interlaken. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 4 &5: Interlaken– Excursion Jungfrau

The choice of day on which you take your excursion

to the Jungfraujoch is yours. Take the train from

Interlaken to the Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the

famous Eiger. Change trains to get on board of the

Jungfrau railway und ride via ‘Eiger Gletscher’ to

the Jungfraujoch – the highest railway station in

Europe at 3454 m with some breathtaking views of

the Aletsch glacier, which at 22 km is the longest in

the Alps and an UNESCO World Heritage site.

Overnight in Interlaken.

On the other day, have one of the optional activi-

ties. Have a great day discovering the surroundings

of Interlaken from the air on a paraglide or go for a

food and culture tour. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 1: Arrival Lucerne

Transfer by train from the border, airport or any other desti-

nation in Switzerland to Lucerne. Short walk from the rail-

way station to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, take

the opportunity to discover the Old Town. Lucerne lies on

the river Reuss, at the end of Lake Lucerne, framed by

impressive mountains. The city has been a stronghold of

tourism since 1840, thanks to the well-preserved Old Town

with its Chapel Bridge and Water Tower. Overnight in Lu-

cerne.

Day 2: optional tours: Mt Titlis, Mt Pilatus, Stanserhorn

Titlis: Mount Titlis is the highest glacier excursion

destination and biggest ski and snowboard paradise in

Central Switzerland. Mount Titlis, and its glacier park are

accessible by the revolving “Rotair” cablecar. At an altitude

of 3020 metres above sea level visitors are treated to a

fabulous view of the central Alps.

Day 4: Interlaken - Jungfrau excursion

The Jungfrau Railway, which leads through the

heart of the mountains and up to the highest train

station in Europe (3454 m), offers unbelievable

views of the mountain giants Eiger, Mönch and

Jungfrau and of the longest river of ice in the Alps –

the Aletsch glacier at 22 km length. The latter is

situated nearly at 1400 meters of altitude and is

crossed by 7 kilometer long of tunnels. Overnight in

Interlaken.

Day 5: Departure

After breakfast, time for souvenir shopping, before

you transfer by rail to the border/airport back home

or on to your next holiday destination.

Pilatus: The panoramic gondolas and aerial

cableway will take you to the summit of Mount Pila-

tus (7000 ft / 2132 m). From here, you will enjoy

unforgettable views over the surrounding mountains

and lakes. Time at leisure for lunch or short hike to

the summit of the mountain.

Stanserhorn: The latest masterpiece of Swiss

engineering is a unique open top aerial cable car

the “Cabrio”, which takes you up to Mt. Stanserhorn

view over ten lakes, 100 kilometers of the Alpine

mountain range and three countries await you on

top. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 3: Lucerne—Interlaken

Entertaining journey on board the Zentralbahn or a

regional train via the Brünigpass to Interlaken. The

town lies in the Bernese Oberland on an alluvial

plain, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The

resort, which is presided over by the three mighty

mountains, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, is the start-

ing point for numerous activities. Overnight in Inter-

laken.

After your arrival at Zurich airport, take the train to the city

Day 2: Zurich / City tour

In the morning, you will discover the Old Town, the Chagall

Day 6: Interlaken—Montreux

The train takes you along the shores of Lake Thun,

on to the Simmen valley with Zweisimmen and the

world-renowned holiday resort of Gstaad, and then

on to Montreux. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 7: Montreux—Geneva / Excursion Rochers

de Naye

Montreux’s local mountain at 2042 m offers specta-

cular views over Lake Geneva and the alps. The

summit can be reached in one hour by cogwheel

railway. After return to Montreux train ride to Gene-

va. Overnight in Geneva.

Day 8: Departure

Before your departure, take the opportunity to do

some last minute shopping in Geneva and then

transfer by rail to the border/airport back home or

on to your next holiday destination.

Day 3: Zürich—Lucerne / TItlis Excursion

Train ride to Lucerne and check in at the hotel. Af-

terwards excursion to Mount Titlis at 3020 m. On

the way to the summit enjoy the ride on the world’s

first rotating gondola – ‘ROTAIR’. Overnight in

Lucerne

Day 4: Lucerne—Interlaken

Train ride over the Brünig Pass on to Interlaken and

check in at the hotel. Time to discover the village
