…from the Founder of Camp Good Days
Dear Friends,On behalf of all the children and families at Camp Good Days
and Special Times, I’d like to invite you to join us for the 35th
Annual Tournament of Love.
One of the greatest challenges we continue to face is keeping
the promise I made when I started Camp Good Days 39 years
ago: that all our programs and services would be provided free
of charge for the participants so as not to create any additional
financial hardships on those families that we serve. I’m proud
that since our inception in 1979, Camp Good Days has served
over 47,800 campers from 22 states and 35 countries. It is only because of the
generous support from so many individuals, businesses and organizations, and the
success of special fundraising events, like the Tournament of Love, that we are able
to keep our promise to all the children who need us the most.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and participation.
Sincerely,
Gary Mervis
Founder
We are so pleased to be the Honorary Chairs for this year’s Tournament of Love;
the longest running fundraiser at Camp Good Days. Camp Good Days has meant
so much to us as our family has been touched by cancer. Throughout what was a
difficult time for us, Camp Good Days was there for our family.
Our daughter, Claire, became a volunteer at the age of 12; first at Junior Good Days,
then later as a counselor at the residential camp, and the annual Florida Fun Fest
trip. Volunteering helped her cope with our family situation and allowed her to help
other young girls who were dealing with cancer in their own families. We find
Camp Good Days a comforting place of like-minded people. We donate year
after year and volunteer on the Foundation board. These are small ways
that we can give back to an organization that does so much for so many.
We hope that you will join us for the 35th Annual
Tournament of Love to continue to deliver programs
and services to thousands of children and adults, as it
has over the last thirty-nine years. We encourage you to
get involved so that Camp Good Days can continue to be
there for every child who has been touched by cancer in
our community.
