Now is the Time

Year 3. That just sounds strange to me. But, believe it or not, we’re embarking

on year number three together. Two years ago, Dana, Asher and I were just

getting moved into our new home. We had no idea what the coming months

and years held for us. But, God has certainly blessed us through the love and

kindness and hospitality of Southside.

And now, it’s time for year 3. 2019 is upon us, and there are a number of new

opportunities for us. If you’ve picked up the new calendar, you may have al-

ready noticed that there are some new opportunities for you. Men’s prayer

breakfast, Teaching Rocket, a Special Needs Sunday - these are coming up just

in the first few months of the year. Not to mention the new visitation program

that will be officially kicked off next Sunday, January 6th, at 4:00 (I hope you’re

planning to be there!).

So, what does this mean for you? It means it’s time to stretch. It’s easy for us

to just continue doing what we’ve always done, because it’s comfortable and

familiar. But, you can’t find one example in Scripture where God called his peo-

ple to be comfortable. To just relax. To live and let live. From Abraham to

Paul, God has continually called his people to greater action. To lives that are

engaged in service.

As you begin to think about the new year, and any New Year’s Resolutions you

might want to make, consider how you can be a bigger part of what’s going on

at Southside. Consider how you can help God’s Kingdom to grow in Hopkins-

ville. Get involved with visitation, or the special needs program, or serving the

youth program, or serving more in worship. And, if you aren’t sure where to

start - come ask me! Or one of the elders. Or one of the deacons. I’m certain

we can find a place for you to serve.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding

in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” - 1

Corinthians 15:58. ~ Bryan Dill
