TRANSCRIPT

‘‘TwasTwas the day before Summer Readingthe day before Summer Reading

and all through the room

not a creature was stirring,

going buzzz

or vroom

The supplies were all ready,the children all set

To go Nature Walking

with Sarah

and bring in a pet

our Registrations were filled out,

our Reading Contracts were signed,

It was time we got started,

and we did on June 9.

One class played“Butterfly Survivor”

With predators

and proboscis… Mama!

Lots of kids did artwork

While some teased their sisters

And what to our wondering eyes should appear

1 white

than 9 varieties of honey,

and 8 yellowand 8 yellow

We tasted them all and chose

Sage, Beekota and Tupelo

Our boxes

were buggy

Our jewelry

was huggygrandmagrandma

auntie

Dad

We wore

Fly eyes

It was a time to meet new friends…

Look an ancient mosquito in the eye

Imagine an Atlas Moth when it flies

The very large and beautiful Atlas Moth species is usually found in Southeast Asia. Atlas Moth cocoons are used to make the durable silk known as "Fagara Silk" originating in northern India. In Taiwan, Atlas Moth cocoons are used to make pocket purses!

August 4th, we began to learn

From August 4th ~ 8th, 2008

Sinte Gleska University Library

was proud host to

Dallas Chief Eagle 11,

an educator and performing artist

whose residency was made possible by

the South Dakota State Library

& the South Dakota Library Association.

Twenty-three area youth attended the daily sessions,

including many of our Readers, for whom these lessons were the

last Summer Reading event .

We had lunch,

and Summer Reading

came to an end for 2008.
