a shared student life is a great student life
“There are so many great things about the Dumfries Campus. It’s small and friendly so you get to know students from different degrees and from other institutions. There are loads of facilities and clubs open to you and because we’re so close to town, we can join in with community activities like art and sports. It’s a great environment for studying and socialising and I’ve got everything I need on my doorstep.”
Sophie (Student, Dumfries Campus)

Dumfries and Galloway College - The Student Association (DGSA)T: 01387 734143 E: sapresident@student.dumgal.ac.uk Room: 0059 (Dumfries) & G35A (Stranraer)
The Student Association exists to ensure that students are represented at all levels and across all programmes at the College. Every student enrolled, whether full-time or part time is automatically a member of the DGSA, which has affiliated membership of the National Union of Students (NUS). The DGSA aims to improve student experience through engagement in learning and teaching. The DGSA is also about having fun and ensuring students enjoy their social life while studying at the College. DGSA assists students to develop an entertainments programme and can help set up any sporting activities students would like to see running within the College. In order to achieve all of this, the DGSA President invites students to put forward their ideas.
The Crichton is an 85-acre parkland estate in the south west of Scotland and is only a short walk, cycle or bus trip from the centre of Dumfries and is surrounded by beautiful rural countryside. As well as having access to the various on-site facilities, students also benefit from the town centre amenities such as supermarkets, banks, shops, leisure facilities, sports clubs, pubs, clubs and restaurants, museums, theatres and arts venues. Dumfries and Galloway is one large outdoor adventure playground full of beaches, rivers, forests and hills offering endless opportunities to participate in water sports, hill-walking, cycling, mountain biking and golf and has an increasing number of music, arts, sports and food based events and festivals. The Campus benefits from two active Student Associations, so there is no shortage of advice when it comes to finding out where to have a good time or where to get the best discounts.
