CaOling Project - Development of Calcium looping

CaOling Project started on December 2009 as a three-years project to develop and demonstrate post-combustion calcium looping in a pilot-scale unit which is fully integrated with a power plant.

To evaluate and optimise the concept in the 1,7 MW test facility, in operating conditions equivalent to large-scale industrial units and integrated in a commercial plant.

To analyse the controllability and stability of the process

To find the optimum set of operating conditions to minimize sorbent make-up flow cost.

To measure the effects of initial particle size and attrition phenomena in the continuous circulating fluidized bed system.

To analyse the effects of the flue gas impurities in the sorbent performance and the effects of coal ash and sulphur content.

CaOling Workshop and La Pereda 1,7MWt CO2 capture plant open-day event.

Workshop will be held next February 2012 at Oviedo, highlighting the first results of the plant and other major research activities in calcium looping. After that an open-day visit to the plant will be organised.
