lands, Australia. We acknowledge the Wiradjuri

Elders
Dear Lord
Catholic Schools Week is a special time in the year when we
celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our Catholic
schools. It is a time to give thanks for the wonderful
teaching and learning that takes place each day in every
classroom.
We acknowledge and thank all who work in the service of
Catholic education to create the opportunities
for students that allow them to grow and thrive.
We thank you forthe wisdom and understanding of teachers
the enthusiasm and energy of students
the leadership of school Principals and executive staff
the skill, care and commitment of administrative and
support staff
the guidance of our pastors and religious leaders the
support and partnership of parents, carers and local
communities.
We pray that each student’s learning journey be inspired by
a search for your wisdom and truth.
We pray that we never take for granted the learning
opportunities that we have all been given, and that we use
the gifts of learning wisely and responsibly.
We ask that we use what we have learnt to create a better
world for all people, particularly the most vulnerable and
disadvantaged.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who
lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and
ever. Amen

School.
Child-safe means taking active measures to keep
children and young people safe from physical, sexual
or emotional abuse.
Child-friendly means creating a trusting environment
that values, respect and welcome children and young
people. This means children and young people feel
confident to raise any problem or concern and know
they will be listened to. If you are aware of a family experiencing difficulty please
approach the School Executive (Principal, Assistant
Principal, REC, Parish Priest) or email this address:

We began Catholic Schools Week on Sunday with
a beautiful combined schools Mass. It was a
wonderful occasion for the Catholic Schools in
Bathurst to come together as students, teachers,
parents and parishioners to celebrate our strengths
and achievements and to share the beautiful
morning tea provided by families after Mass with
the wider parish community. This year’s theme is
‘I belong, You belong, We belong’ which ties in
with the Churches celebration of the
Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, recognising the
values of our Catholic faith particularly those of
forgiveness, compassion, strength and love.

morning was very
successful. I thank Mrs
Katie White & Mrs Kelli
Hotham for their help
during the morning and the parents, grandparents and
carers who all helped in making the day a huge
success.
Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has
real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of
information and imagination and helps children
discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help
children develop stronger reading skills and a love for
reading:
Set the example. Let children see you read.
Have a collection of books in the
home.
Update this collection routinely
to keep pace with changing tastes
and reading skills.
Allow children to choose their
own books to read.
Swimming Carnival
On 2nd
March 14 St Phil’s students participated in
the Diocesan Swimming Carnival in Dubbo. Our

Windsor.

years boys Age Champion on the day. A fantastic
achievement!
The following students will now compete in the
Polding Swimming Championships to be held in
Sydney; Cooper Stephen, Jack O’Hara and Paddy
O’Hara. This is a wonderful achievement and we
wish these boys an enjoyable and successful
swimming meet. Well done everyone!
Anne Murdoch.
