The average income at the career midpoint of someone with an associate’s degree in Yavapai County is 35% higher than a student with only a high school diploma.
Research shows that students whose academic experiences make them likely to hesitate to go to college stand to benefit the most from a postsecondary degree.

uSpotlight on Psychology of Personal Growth (PSY232)
P sychology of Personal Growth is ideal for newcomers to the college setting. The class is focused on
“self-awareness” and adjustment in relationships and in the workplace. Techniques are presented for self-change as regards stress, emotional reactions, and self-concept.
Family and cultural influences on “personhood” are explored, along with dysfunctional behaviors. Psychology of Personal Growth is useful in making decisions regarding careers, relationships, and self-acceptance.
uSpotlight on Horticulture Science (AGS252)
H orticulture Science is an exciting way to prepare for a career, transfer to a university or just pursue for
therapy and personal interest. Students in the Horticulture class at Yavapai College enjoy a convenient hybrid class schedule (both online and in-classroom) to best meet the demands of this rigorous four-credit hour class.
Each week students will meet in class to complete a hands on lab in the greenhouse, the outside gardens, or the interiorscape plantings. Emphasis is on plant propagation, and production for market. Many horticultural students are interested in horticultural food crop production. Students will have opportunities to do so in a number of different water and soil based systems.
uSpotlight on A+ Computer Technician Certification (CNT110)
T his PC hardware and software course is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in
the IT field within several different working environments, such as corporate, help-desk and field environments. Students learn about the components of desktop and laptop computers by learning the proper procedures for hardware and software installations, updates and troubleshooting.
Today we live in a global economy where skills need to be transferable across borders to meet market demands, no matter the location of the employee or the employer. The Cisco Networking Academy Program provides access to these skills. This learning experience is supported by high-quality curricula, assessments, instructor training, hands-on labs and classroom interaction that is delivered worldwide to ensure consistency in qualifications and skills.
24% of Yavapai College full-time faculty members have a Ph.D. Nationally, only 13% of full-time community college faculty members have doctorate degrees. Source: National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

OLLI/Community Education
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in Verde Valley and Sedona was created to meet the needs and interests of retirement-age people. Classes emphasize peer learning, member participation, collaborative leadership and social interaction. Lively discussion, plus experiential opportunities in personal growth, cultural and environmental explorations provide members a rich, continuing educational experience.
Degree-seeking students can save thousands of dollars by taking their first two years of college at YC before transferring to a 4-year college to complete their bachelor degree.
