*SPACES  AVAILABLE  FOR  JUNE  AND  JULY  *  5-­‐HOUR  THERAPEUTIC  RESPITE  

CARE  PROGRAM  

Program  Description:    Tricia   Sullivan   Respite   2   (TSR2)   Program   provides   recreational   activities   for   teens   and  

adults   with   developmental   disabilities   in   a   community-­‐based   setting.   In   order   to   facilitate  social,   cognitive,   and  physical   growth,   this  program  uses   therapeutic   activities  designed  to   fit  the  skill  level  of  individuals  with  moderate  assistance  needs.  

 The  program   includes   activities   such   as  art   therapy,   aerobic   exercise,  modified   yoga,   and  

dance   therapy   in   order   to   provide   participants   with   new   learning   and   leisure   exploration.    Participants  enjoy   structured  activities   throughout  the  day,   lasting  approximately  45  minutes  each.  There  is  a  lunch  break  in  the  middle  of  the  day.  To  ensure  that  the  program  staff  are  able  to  provide  optimal   level   to   facilitate  member  participation,   the  respite  program’s  ratio   is  one  staff  member  to  four  members.    A  licensed  practical  nurse  (LPN)  or  certified  nursing  assistant  (CNA)  is  on-­‐site  during  the  program.  

 The  TSR2  program  will  be  held  on  Sunday,  June  11th  and  Sunday,  July  16th  from  12:00PM  

until  5:00PM  at  1010  Grandin  Ave,  Rockville,  MD  20851.    The  fee  is  $50  per  session,  payable  upon  arrival  to  the  program.    Financial  Assistance  is  also  available,  upon  request.      

Member  participation  requirements:    

1. Must  be  able  to  function  in  groups  of  up  to  30  people.  2. Must  be  able  to  follow  1-­‐2  step  directions.  3. Must  be  able  to  perform  his/her  own  self-­‐care  needs.  4. Cannot  exhibit  injurious  behavior  to  self  or  others
