Sound Waves

They differ from one another in three ways, namely :

(a) Loudness or Intensity(b) Pitch

(c) quality

LOUDNESS

and

ITENSITY

Amplitude

• Amplitude is the maximum

displacement from a wave’s

equilibrium position.

Sound Intensity

increases as the amplitude

and area of the vibrating body

increase.

Loudness also depends on the

listener.

Energy is always

carried by sound waves.

Loud sounds have greater

amplitude than soft sounds.

Sound waves travel in all direction.

intensity.It is named after

Alexander Graham Bell.

Decibel- small unit

Noise is an irritating

sound cause by irregular vibration at the source.
