SOM 102-02 Church Engaging SocietyThis class will examine Jeremiah 29 and how

it relates to what the church must do as a community in exile.

Jeremias 29:1-14

Nagpadala ng sulat si Propeta Jeremias mula sa Jerusalem para sa nalalabing matatandang bihag, mga pari at mga propeta, at lahat ng taong dinalang-bihag ni Nebucadnezar sa Babilonia. Ganito ang sinasabi sa sulat: "Ito ang sinasabi ni Yahweh na Makapangyarihan sa lahat, ang Diyos ng Israel, sa lahat ng mga taga-Jerusalem na dinalang-bihag sa Babilonia: Magtayo kayo ng mga bahay at diyan na kayo tumira; magtanim kayo at inyong kanin ang bunga niyon. Mag-asawa kayo upang magkaanak; bayaan ninyong mag-asawa ang inyong mga anak, nang sila'y magkaanak din.

Ano ba’ng Dapat Nilang Gawin? Grow in number there; don’t decrease /

Magpakarami kayo, at huwag ninyong hayaang kayo'y umunti.

Work for the good of the city / Ngunit pagyamanin ninyo ang lunsod

Idalangin ninyo sila kay Yahweh sapagkat kayo rin ang makikinabang kung sila'y umunlad.• where I’ve taken you as captives / na

Magpakarami kayo, at huwag ninyong hayaang kayo'y umunti. Ngunit pagyamanin ninyo ang lunsod na pinagdalhan ko sa inyo. Idalangin ninyo sila kay Yahweh sapagkat kayo rin ang makikinabang kung sila'y umunlad.

Huwag kayong magpapalinlang sa inyong mga propeta at mga manghuhula. Huwag kayong basta-bastang maniniwala sa kanilang mga panaginip. Tandaan ninyo: Kasinungalingan ang sinasabi nila sa inyo; sila'y hindi ko sinugo, ang sabi ni Yahweh.

Jeremias 29:1-14Subalit ito ang aking sinabi: Pagkatapos lamang ng 70 taon ng pagkabihag sa Babilonia, muli kong ipadarama ang pag-ibig ko sa inyo. Tutuparin ko ang aking pangakong ibabalik kayo sa lupaing ibinigay ko sa inyo. Sapagkat batid kong lubos ang mga plano ko para sa inyo; mga planong hindi ninyo ikakasama kundi para sa inyong ikabubuti. Ito'y mga planong magdudulot sa inyo ng kinabukasang punung-puno ng pag-asa.

Kung maganap na ito, kayo'y tatawag, lalapit, at dadalangin sa akin, at diringgin ko naman kayo. Kapag hinanap ninyo ako, ako'y inyong matatagpuan; kung buong puso ninyo akong hahanapin. Oo, ako'y matatagpuan ninyo, sabi ni Yahweh, at ibabalik ko ang inyong mga kayamanan. Titipunin ko kayo mula sa lahat ng bansa at pook na pinagdalhan ko sa inyo, at ibabalik sa dakong pinagmulan ninyo bago kayo nabihag.

Political stability is the universal desire for global peace.

Government & civilization must be grounded on

morality.

5. Pray for the peace of the City.

To pray is to recognize that God is involved in the process of creating well-being.

Prayer is the fulcrum that balances evangelism and social concern.

They were driven to the edge of existence so that they can be brought back to the center of God’s heart.

The promised future is coming…it will be a new social arrangement.

CONCLUSION

The idea of double blessings: with the blessings of Babylon, the people of God will be blessed also.

The protection of God’s people brings blessings from God.
