That warmed our toes through winter cold
Those crazy, colourful hose
Whose brightness was so bold ?
Or the stylish little additions
To one’s tasteful, wintry attire
Where have they gone do you suppose?
Where’s the cure for this condition?
The ridiculous myriad of colours
To adorn each and every toe
Or the trendy, outspoken tartan ones
Conversation pieces and all show?
Or fine little lace adornments
Which graced a seemly ankle?
There’s a scarcity of choice right now
And it’s really starting to rankle !
Where’s the fun
And where’s the pleasure
Of parading in gaudy socks
Or how about those long ones
Which you scrunched on top of Docs?
Where’s the challenge in removing them ?
The energetic tugging and ripping free?
The supreme toe twiddling success at last
And the well-earned cup of tea !
