The Science of Pixar: Filmmaking has undergone a revolution brought on by advances in areas such as computer technology, science, and applied mathematics. Using numerous examples drawn from Pixar’s feature films, this talk will provide a behind the scenes look at the role

these disciplines have played in the revolution.Wavelets for Computer Graphics: Wavelets are a

mathematical tool for hierarchically decomposing functions. They allow any function to be described in terms of a coarse overall shape, plus

details that range from broad to narrow. In this talk I'll present a tutorial introduction to wavelets and describe a number of areas in computer

graphics where wavelets have been applied.
