Colour Splashing

Colour Splashing

Colour splashing has quite a few steps to it. First you place an image onto Photoshop and duplicate that layer. The bottom layer is turns black and white and then edited to make it clearer. The layer on top has the colour range selected and the rest deleted so that just the one colour is shown on the black and white background. The rest of the image can be edited to make that colour stand out.

Heavy Metal

Writing

Originally this was just text in a straight line. By selecting one letter it is possible to then edit that by using the “skew” feature as I have done with all of the letters on the image above.

Mood Board

Once we were taught how to do colour splashing and heavy metal writing, we needed to make a “mood board”. This would contain things that our target audience for our CD covers would be interested in. As my genre is heavy metal, I included things that would appeal to a fan of heavy metal, such as; the guitar which is essential for a heavy metal band, a Bloodstock Open Air (BOA) CD – BOA is a festival spanning three days and attracts a lot of people each time. The fire dragon would attract people because it looks quite fantasy-like and gothic. Finally, the last image is of the skeleton horns. People do this at rock concerts so it would appeal to my target audience.
