Week FourPhilippine

Welcome back to Silver Bend! During Gabie’s rotation she invited her friend Clarence Philippine to move in.

Clarence promptly moved out and into his own lot across town. He was in love with Marylena Hamilton

and hope to make a life with her.

He had enough funds to build a small house. He spent a little too much on the landscaping. He loved plants and

nature.

His house was devoid of furnishings, and you could stand in the hallway. There weren’t any doors in the other

rooms.

Clarence got right to work. He didn’t notice when Mr. Humble brought his gift. Clarence wanted to have a

better start before he invited Marylena over. He wanted to give her more than a house you couldn’t

walked into.

It didn’t take long to dig enough stuff to buy doors and a minifridge.

He invited Marylena over as soon as she got off work.“Clarence!” She gasped.

“I have a house now!” He blurted, “I want you to move in with me.”

Marylena looked around, “Really?”“Really.”

“I’m going to live in a house, not an one bedroom apartment in townie land.”

“A real house.” Clarence promised.“Then yes, I’ll move in with you.”

Marylena moved in with a little cash and quite a bit of inventory. She set it all in the living room.

“Let’s keep the fountain and sell the rest.” She suggested.

“Whatever you want Marylena.” Clarence, “Mi casa es sucasa.”

A/N: Marylena moved in as a business tycoon!!!!! Silver Bend has officially opened up a business district and unlocked the business career. If there

hadn’t been an opening, I would’ve made her quit. But I need the business district for my plans for next rotation. You’ll learn more about those in Ani-Mei’s interlude. Marylena is a family sim that wants to graduate three kids

from college.

“Marylena, I want you to do more than move in with me.” Clarence said bending down on knee.

“Anything Clarence.”“Will you marry me?”

“Yes!!!”

They said their vows right there in the kitchen. Neither of them wanted to wait. They were finally together.

“Let’s try for a baby right now!” Marylena said excitedly.’“So course!” Clarence agreed. The have a baby want

locked in his bar too.

They didn’t stay in bed long. Clarence wanted to open up his own business. He dragged Marylena to the lot he bought.

“I have a silver flower arranging badge.” Marylena said as they looked over the lot.

“Then we’ll call it The Flower Garden!” Clarence said excitedly, “I’ll get my flower badges too.”

“What’s this?” Pony asked looking around, “I was saving this lot for my daughter.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry Pony. Clarence wanted to open up a business and this was the only lot available.”

“Clarence?” Pony narrowed her eyes, “Let me guess Gabie moved in and then out.”

“Yes.”

Marylena followed Pony as she looked around.“This may not be a bad thing after all.” Pony mused, “Marylena, you guys can keep this lot. . .”

“Oh thank you Pony!”“On one condition. You must pay it forward. Clarence and you got to move out of Townie Land. I

want you to open your home to someone else. An elderly person.”“Anything Pony.” Marylena nodded, “We’ll do it as soon as we can.”

“Good, I’ll give this place a star.”

Selling flowers was a hit. The arrangements were flying off the shelves.

Joe Carr gave The Flower Garden rank 1.

Back home Clarence took a job in the business career. It was odd that his wife was going to be his boss. But

maybe no one would give him too much flak.

“So who are we going to ask to move in?” Marylenaasked.

“I’ll ask my buddy Christian.” Clarence said, “The poor guy is always alone.”

“It’ll be nice to have the extra help when the baby is born.” Marylena agreed.

After breakfast both their carpools came. Marylenawished her assistant didn’t insist on sending a

helicopter every morning.

Marylena’s work day didn’t go well. Morning sickness kept her in the bathroom all morning. She missed a

critical meeting and was demoted two levels.

But at least that part of her pregnancy was done.“Hi there baby.”

On the other side of the coin Clarence came home with a promotion.

Clarence gave into his inner child and put soap in the fountain at The Flower Garden.

“Clarence do you have to do that?” Marylena wanted to know.

“Sorry, I couldn’t resist.”

“Hey Keika, try some of our daisy bouquets, your girls will love them.”

“Thanks Marylena, I will.” Keika smiled, “Your prices are perfect for someone on a budget.”

Marylena worked the front while Clarence worked on his badges in the back room. It was tricky managing the

register and sales, but she made it work.

The store was quickly moving up in ranks. It was rank 4 in

no time.

They were able to finish putting in shelves and add more inventory by cashing in on business perks.

“Clarence, let’s call Christian when we get home.” Marylena said.

“Okay. Rough day?”“Yeah, this pregnancy is making it hard to keep up.”

Marylena, “I think I should take it easy until the baby is born.”

“Your wish is my command.”

“Hey, Christian it’s Clarence. Hey I got a question to ask you could you come over for a bit?”

“Sure Clar I’ll be there in a jiff.” Christian said sounding curious.

“Hey Clar what was so important?” Christian asked after waving.“Marylena and I want you to move in with us.” Clarence explained, “It’ll get you out of

your flat.”“I’m gonna have to refuse, Clarence. You’re a family sim, so is Marylena. I’m an ol’

romance sim, I don’t want to be around the dozen babies you guys are gonna be popping out.”

“Well that’s a bummer.” Clarence sighed, “Sorry to drag you over for nothing.”

“Christian doesn’t want to be around kids.” Clarence explained.

“Don’t worry hun. I’ll ask my friend Neil tomorrow.” Marylena patted his shoulder.

As soon as she woke up she called her friend Neil Cameron over.

“Of course I’ll move in.” Neil Cameron gushed, “Thanks so much for offering. My landlord just forgot to pay the

electricity again.”“That definitely won’t happen here.” Marylena

promised.

Neil unloaded his inventory and sold it off. He felt like he was floating on a cloud. He finally had a chance to

complete his lifetime want of maxing his skills.

“Neil, I’m off to work!” Marylena shouted as she headed out the door, “There’s a bed for you in the living room.

We’ll get you a space set up on Reno Day.”“Thanks Marylena!”

Neil wanted to help contribute to the household funds too. He purchased a park lot a little further down the street. He also made another call. He too wanted to

pay it forward.

The cool fall air made Neil feel young again. He skipped a couple of jump ropes just because he could.

He didn’t take him long to set up the park. Star Gazing Park, though for some reason he didn’t see any

telescopes in the catalog. He want it to be a place knowledge sim could come and relax.

He set the ticket machine low. He didn’t have any sales badges to push it higher.

“This is some really nice landscape, Neil. Have you ever though about joining the garden club?” Matthew asked.

“No not really, but I’ll mention it to Marylena and see what she thinks.”

Amanda Colours was a knowledge sim, but she sure did enjoy a game of chess.

Neil added some gardening plots. Once they were ripe anyone could have fresh tomatoes straight off the vine.

Darkness fell, Neil gave himself one last cast before turning in for the day.

Back home, Marylena waddled out of her limo. She managed to regain one of her lost promotions. She’d be

back to business tycoon in no time.

“Hey Neil, you want to head to my business for a few hours?”

“Sure, that’s the least I could do. With you guys giving me a place to stay.”

Working with Clarence gave Neil an opportunity to work on his sales badges.

Clarence did have to help out with the register from time to time.

Stars came flying in. As well as ranks. Before they knew it Flower

Garden was Rank 8.

Neil restocked while Clarence resumed working on his badges. He had earned a silver flower arranging badge

in no time.

“Hi I’m Uma.” The nice witch introduced herself.“Neil Cameron.” Neil smiled at the glowing woman.

Neil chatted with Uma. She was funny and smart. He realized emotions were stirring in him. Emotions he

hadn’t felt in a long time. He felt warm and cold at the same time. Uma was beautiful, but he was old, too old

to take care of a lovely young woman.

Marylena donated $50k to the Uni Fund. They could at least spare that much. Clarence had been donating a

small tax too. Though taxes usually didn’t start coming out until the second week.

She got a few new clothes for Neil and Clarence. Clarence decided he needed a whole new look.

Neil was too excited to sleep. He stayed up working on his flower arranging badge.

“Marylena, I have to be honest. I called the adoption agency yesterday.”“Wait? What?” Marylena asked sleepily, “I take it you weren’t adopting a dog.”

“Well no, a child, to carry on my name.”“That’s a big decision.”

“I know, but I know kids are expensive too, will you help me run the park for a few hours?”“Sure.”

Marylena made Clarence come along too. She worked the ticket machine while the men played chess.

“So you adopted a kid.” Clarence mused.“Yes, I should’ve of asked.” Neil said studied the chess board.

“Well, Marylena and I are family sims so the more children the merrier.” Clarence shrugged. “So do you want a girl or boy?”

“I don’t care, I just want someone to carry on after I’m gone.”“You could’ve have gotten married. You’re not too old to sire your own.”

Clarence said carefully, “I saw you talking to Uma.”“I’m too old for that stuff. A kid I can handle. I’m too old to be getting

married and having babies.”

“Are you sure that you’re okay with this?” Marylenaasked.

“I can’t really say no. I understand how Neil feels.” Clarence replied, “Pony did want us to pay it forward.

This is a way for Neil to do that too.”“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

They stayed until it got dark. Once Lyndsay gave them enough stars for rank 2 it was time to head home.

Marylena went to bed and Clarence went to work. Neil started writing an article to make a little extra money.

“Where are we Ms S?”“We’re at your new home, Erin.” Ms. S smiled. “You’ve

been adopted.”“So I don’t ever have to go back?”

“Never. Neil Cameron will make a wonderful father for you.” Ms S explained, “Look he’s waiting to meet you.”

She pointed to the front doors of the house.

Erin dashed inside and crashed into Neil.“Thankyouthankyouthankyou!” She cried.

“No thank you little one.” Neil smiled, “I’m Neil.”“My name is Erin.”

“Well Erin you better get off to school, or we’ll get into trouble. I’ll be here when you get home.”

Erin headed off. Why did Neil send her to school? Before she even had time to explore her house. What if the other kids were mean to her? They always knew she

was a foster kid before.

“NEIL!!!” Marylena called from the bedroom, “THE BABY IS COMING!”

She gave birth to a baby boy. She named him Asko. He had her black hair and his dad’s brown eyes.

Erin hopped off the school bus and looked at the note her teacher sent home.

“I’m looking forward to teaching Erin in class. She’s a bright young girl and I’m sure with a few extra lessons she’ll be caught up with the rest of the class.” She read aloud, “Extra lessons! Aren’t regular lessons enough?”

She brought home one of her new friends Olaf Coloursfrom school.

Clarence came home with another promotion. He inside immediately to see his new son.

Clarence didn’t notice the small group of children on the corner of the lot. Olaf made Erin greet his friend

Rebecca Diem. They started a water balloon fight.

“So you want to get started on another baby?” Clarence asked.

“I can’t think of a reason to wait.”

Neil was a light sleeper. He was first up to tend to Asko.

“Neil can you help me with these extra lessons?” Erin asked, “I have no idea what a wrasse or a bass is.”

“Of course I’ll help you. Wrasses and bass are both types of fish.”“Why are we learning about fish?”

“Biology is important. But I agree you guys are learning about it quite early.”

Clarence and Neil headed down the road to Star Gazing Park. They only stayed long enough to get the park to

rank three.

Neil tucked Erin in. Who would believe he would have a child all his own.

Saturday morning was sunny and beautiful. “Feel that sunlight Asko?” Marylena cradled her baby.

She brought him outside to enjoy the fresh air.Asko cooed and played with the buttons on her jacket.

The men sent her and Erin outside so they could work on expanding the house.

They had enough funds to almost completely renovate the downstairs. The upstairs needed quite a bit of work sill, but

Erin and Niel would have their own space.

“Daddy and Uncle Neil did a great job on the house, huh Asko.” Marylena said feeding her son.

Marylena loved the new kitchen. She made pancakes on the brand new stove. Clarence splurged on the newest

appliances.

“These pancakes are great!” Neil said happily.“Thanks, now if we could get Clarence out of the

garden.”“Or Erin away from the easel.”

Erin couldn’t resist the draw of an blank canvas. She made a beeline for the easel as soon as she was called

inside.

Olaf Colours came by. He was enough to get her attention.

“Go! Go! Go!” Erin shouted at her snowboarder.“Aw man.” Olaf complained, he wasn’t used to the controls and his snowboarder crashed into a tree.

Saturday evening rolled around and it was time for Asko’s birthday.

He grew up in a toss of confetti. He looked a lot like Clarence.

“Fetti!” Asko giggled.

After a gulp of smart milk potty training began.

Clarence spent some quality time with Asko in the early hours of the morning. Asko was a bright boy, he learned

to walk very quickly.

Good thing too, Marylena thought, cause toddler training was hard to do with another baby on the way.

Neil wanted to meet Olaf’s parents. So the Colours were invited over for Sunday afternoon.

The grownups spent time chatting while watching a cooking show.

While Erin got to meet Olaf’s brothers upstairs over a heated game of Don’t Wake the Llama.

“You’re my best friend, Dad.” Erin said sitting beside Neil on the couch.

Neil had to turn away so she wouldn’t see the tears of happiness in his eyes.

Yay we got a business district!!!!!!Things are looking up for Silver Bend!

So the Phillippine house is all about paying it forward. Too often I just ignore the townie

elders. We’ll be seeing more of them move in now. Some I’ll be aging down, others I won’t.

There’ll be more adoption as well.I forgot to jot down Asko’s and Erin’s

personalities. I’ll work those in next rotation. The naming theme for the Philippines is names pulled from Boolprop Name Game thread in the

Games Section. Asko was the first boys name. So expected the names to rather delightfully

random.Ani-Mei’s interlude is next
