yourself in the service of others .” NSS volunteers
work hard day and night to ensure that everyone
in our society who is needy gets every possible
help from them so that they can also enhance
their standard and lead a life of dignity in the
society with all of us . With this motto , NSS unit
of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering
and Management celebrated NSS Foundation
Day on 24th of September , 2016 at Balsadan
Orphanage . Around 110 NSS volunteers along
with Dr. S Dogra participated actively in this event.
Volunteers enjoyed
a lot with the
children at
orphanage. They played various games and did various
activities with them . In this regards, volunteers did tree
plantation along with the children and told them about
it . Stationary items such as notebooks and pencils
were provided to the children along with chocolates .
All the children
were very happy
after spending
such memorable
moments with the
NSS volunteers
and NSS
volunteers were
also happy that
they gave their precious contribution towards society on
the occasion of NSS foundation day and somewhere , the motto of NSS unit “ Not
Me , But You” was successfully achieved.

the state of our country, then observe the
under privileged children of the nation”.

equipments like dustbins, and brooms were donated to
the orphanage.
Police raising day rally:-
“ People sleep peaceably in
their beds at night only
because rough men stand
ready to do violence on their
behalf .” A police force is a
constituted body of persons
empowered by the state to
enforce the law, protect
property, and limit civil
disorder. So, to honour and
salute the courage and bravery
of these police officers, on the
occasion of Maharashtra Police
Raising Day , a rally was
organised from Variety Square
to Yashwant Stadium on 7th
of January, 2017. The NSS

placards including slogans and quotes about different social issues such as girl
child education, women safety, ATM security etc. written on it. It was a successful
event which marked and showcased the importance of police force in our country.
SAONER visit (Mukhbadhir Shakha -Deaf and Dumb
School): -
Whenever you fall down, you have two options: To get up
and fight back or to run away.”
What if this
fall meant
lifetime
suffering and a
drift from the
normalcy of
life?! Dozen with luxuries we forget the
gifts God has endowed upon us.
NSS unit of Ramdeobabba College of
Engineering and Management visited to Mukhbadhir Shakha Deaf and Dumb School,
Saoner on 17th Jan which made a digging impact into their hearts
and brains. Most of us would perhaps lose all hope and adapt to
the darks of our lives instead if, God forbid, we are physically
impaired in any sense. What if you were born with it or else
faced it at an early age??
These children answer the question and push the shadows away
with confidence, perseverance and enlightenment.
Your adorned masks cannot fake these little fellows. The
children at the blind school seemed to be able to see more than
us. Their sixth sense and positive attitude towards life make
one wince.
NSS volunteers played games i.e. cricket and badminton with
the children and had great fun. Volunteers danced along and saw
their beautiful paintings and handicraft and even bought them
.They do their learning and schooling by speak therapy. NSS unit
distributed sports equipments like cricket kit and badminton
rackets.
Parting these new friends was hard. Everyone looked up one last
time with a broad smile and the hearts saluting the enthusiasm of
the young ones while moving down the dusty rocky path edged
with beautiful yellow flowers.
The amazing part is that none of the volunteers pity these children. Instead, all them felt
proud of those kids and pity to be lacking the kind of vividness. Volunteers were honored
to be a part of their lives although just
for a few hours.
Cleanliness drive:- SwachhataPakhwara was
observed from 23rd of August 2016 to 31st of
August 2016 under Swachha Bharat Abhiyan
under Government of India. During this Swachhata
Pakhwara , our NSS volunteers conducted
cleanliness drives at various places such as college
campus , classrooms , orphanage etc. Cleanliness
oath was also taken by the volunteers in the
auspicious presence of NSS programme officer ,
Dr. S. Dogra. where they took the oath to keep
their surrounding always clean and to preserve
it.
Annakoot: - As Lord Krishna said , “ Fill your mind
with me , Love me , Serve me, Worship me always .
Seek me in your heart , you will at last be united
with me “. With this great spirit and devotion , NSS
unit celebrated the festival of Annakoot on 10th of
November, 2016 at ShriRamdeobaba College of
Engineering and Management. On this auspicious
occasion , around 300 NSS volunteers served holy
Prasad to a crowd of around 10000 devotees. NSS volunteers under the guidance of
teachers managed the whole event in a very smooth
and efficient manner. They ensured that no one should
go without taking food. There was also a provision for
food packets to the devotees who were unable to
come.
Old-Garment Distribution “Service to man
is Service to God”. This noble thought of Swami
Vivekananda inspires everybody to contribute
towards the wellbeing of the world. Apparently
in our journey of helping world, we really help
ourselves, because it is not the receiver that is
blessed, but the giver. Many among India’s poor
and underprivileged are short of adequate
clothing and other basic things. Donated
second-hand goods which are in usable
condition not only make their lives better but
also promote the eco-friendly concept of
recycling. What is waste for you is resource for
the less fortunate. So instead of throwing away
something, donate it. Cloth is one of the
three basics needs of human beings. But
there are people in this world who don’t
have the essential need of existence. These
thoughts motivated NSS unit of Shri
Ramdeobaba College of Engineering And
Management, Nagpur helps one of the
socially active group “Helping Hands” of
Nagpur Institute of Technology. Eventually
this noble thought got dimensions and got
executed on 29th July, 2016. NSS Unit
donated clothes which were further
distributed to the needy people by “Helping
Hand” group. Contentment through helping
these less fortunate is the greatest
achievement one could ever receive in life.
Cloth donation at Yuva Jyoti
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by
what we give.” With this thing in mind NSS unit of
RCOEM had donated clothes on 16th October 2016 at
YUVA JYOTI orphanage to fulfil their need.NSS
volunteers reached orphanage at 4 PM to donate clothes
and spend time with the kids over there. Kids were happy
to receive cloths. They were even glad to spend time and
play games with NSS volunteers. With this we came to know that the measure of life after
all is not its duration, but its donation. The event was successfully conducted with smiles
on the faces of little kids.
Yaad Karo Kurbani : A Tribute to Martyrs …..
“ They may torture my body , break my bones , even
kill me . Then they will have my dead body , but not
my obedience.” Inspired from these famous lines ,

Karo Kurbani “ on 15th of August 2016 at Shri

Reflection & Akriti
On 18 Feb
2017, the
NSS Unit of
Shri
Ramdeobaba
College
of
Engineering and Management payed a visit to
'Malegaon' village, which is approximately 65
km from Nagpur. The bus reached the village at
10 in the morning. It carried 90 volunteers and a
team of 10 Doctors. NSS Programme officer,
Dr. S Dogra also visited the village along with
the Volunteers. With a motto to provide proper
health care and awareness to the people living
there, doctors from various hospitals were
called to give the villagers a complete health
check up. Doctors from Vasan Eye Care,
Advance Dental Clinic and Shrishti Eye Care
visited the village. The NSS unit took care that
no villager is left untreated. The volunteers
ensured that each person whether old or young, child or a women is given proper
awareness and treatment from the doctors. When it comes to health, women are more
prone to problems. Hence, a Gynaecologist was also called up to provide medications to
the women. The villagers were given handy tips, advice and proper guidance to look after
themselves. When remote rural areas and slums are considered, they are hardly provided
or guided with medications. It thus, was the need of the hour to help such people in a way
that could contribute towards the welfare of our society. It was a small initiative that NSS
Team took to help the villagers by providing them, the help that they themselves couldn't
afford. At the end the doctors were felicitated with saplings and mementoes by the NSS
Programme officer, Dr. S. Dogra. We are thankful to the team of doctors that took out
their precious time to help out the poor villagers. It gave a sense of satisfaction to the
entire team after interacting with the people there and also a feeling of joy to have helped
out the poor villagers in some way or the other. Thus, the last day ended with a smile on
the face of the villagers that made our journey of PRERNA worth memorable.
As the father of our nation has rightly said that “The best way to find yourself is to lose in
the service of others”. We need to get to that point where change is irreversible and
exponential. With every step that the NSS unit takes; we move closer to that point.
More than 450 years before the birth of Christ, Confucius said:-
“What I hear –I forget
What I see-I remember
What I do – I understand”
So, let’s do it together, we have heard what we have to do. We have seen what we need
to do. Now it’s the time to do it, and together we can do it…
