Close up shot
Close up shots are shots where the face of the actor or the object fills the shot.
Close up shots help the viewer connect with the character it can also be used to create tension and intamcy.
For example in the two photo tension is being created as Harry is trying to get out of Bellatrix Lestrange’s vault and when Ron is about to get hit by the queen.
Extreme close up
Extreme close ups are shots where the camera is close to the face or object where you can see a lot of detail
Extreme close up are often use to add tension or to add sinister feeling.
The shot with Lord Voldemort is use to create tension before the final battle.The shot with the Minister of Magic is used to add a sinister feeling as
Medium close up
Medium close up shots are used in dialoged sequences because they easily show hand gestures and body languages. They also help to show the emotion of the characters.
You can see this in the shot with Lord Voldemort where he is talking to all the death eaters at Malfoy Manor.
You can also see this in the shot with Harry where he goes to die.
mid shot
mid shots are also used for dialogue sequences because they can easily show emotion and hand gestures and body language
In the shot with Dumbledoor you can clearly see the emotions in his face and the hand gestures and body language that he uses
Medium long shot
Medium long shots are used to show the person and the background in the shot clearly.
Medium long shots can be used with on person a shown in the shot with Harry in them but can also be used with more than one person which is shown in the shot with the Weasley family.
Long shot
Long shots are used to show action in films. It is also used to put the character in to the world and to see the size of the set around them.
You can see an example of the shot being used to show action in the shot with Harry. In this shot there is a battle happening and this shot is used to show that.
In the shot with Harry Ron and Hermione it is used to show action as well as to show the set behind them. In this shot the action Graup is chasing them.
Extreme long shot
Extreme long shots are used to set scenes.
Some examples of this are showing the change in shot in CoS when they arrive at the Weasleys house and again in DH part 2 during the battle of Hogwarts
